PC Gemmed Robes and Tim

So I recently read that wearing any gemmed variant of a robe will increase the spawn rate of Tim and Rune Wizards; so I crafted a Diamond Robe for convenience. But my question is, does the robe need to be in the vanity or the armour slot? It's in my armour slot right now.

Gem robes only increase Tim's spawn rates, not the Rune Wizard's, and you indeed have to equip them in your armour slot: vanity slots won't count.

Also important to note is that you must not be wearing Tim's hat, or the spawn rates will stay the same. This is in case you want to grind multiple hats, or the banner.

Adding to what has already been said, in case you want to farm for rune wizards, they apparently spawn more often in the vicinity of gem caves.

I can't find anything in the game's code to reinforce that, so I'm afraid that's just a myth.

Through decompiling the game. It's not technically legal, but as long as you don't do anything sketchy, Re-Logic doesn't seem to mind.
