Well, what do you know, I’m in hardmode. Kind of over prepared! I had molten armor, fiery greatsword, 58 beenades, a bee gun, Imp staff, flame burst rod, lava charm, and tons of other stuff just to beat WoF. I thought I was unstoppable! And then I beat the guts out of the WoF, and hardmode starts! I use a magic mirror and am like: you know, hardmode is gonna be ez and I decide to explore. To make a long story short, I managed to die about 5 times! I was so not-ready, I blew 20 gold on the javelin, just to protect myself. And by the way, the javelin did more damage than my reforged fiery greatsword. So here is my situation: I have aHUGE base (for some reason I built a huge base in pre hardmode) can barely go outside, crimson is spreading, the hollow was created next to the arms dealer and nurses house and is spreading too.

great. At least I broke some demon altars! (I died 2 times in the process )

Safely dig a tunnel in your own safe haven and go mine hardmode ores. It's okay to die a few times since you're a melee character and early hardmode can be really tough.
You should get mythril/orichalcum gear before you try to even mine for adamantite since you seem to get tanked all the time by hardmode enemies.
Then, go outside to the spreading crimson and take the chance to fish for a Bladetongue, which is absolutely one of the best weapons you can get in early hardmode.

Hardmode is its name. hard. use baby Strats that you would use pre boss such as blocking yourself off occasionally and using your fiery sword to hit through a small gap. once you obtain adamantine/titanium you should be fine
