I’m sure I’m not the only one that has had problems with this, because it’s pretty common. Sometimes when you put items into the slot to ask the guy what you can make with them he just straight up doesn’t show you anything. Interestingly when I give that same item to my friend and she tried to use the guide with that item it worked fine so no idea what the problem is, but that’s about it.
