The ability to attach lanterns to the bottoms of regular tree branches could provide another way of lighting up forests with relative ease, in an arguably more aesthetically-pleasing manner than simply sticking torches to the trunks!
It'd also enable quick deployment of Heart Lanterns and Stars in Bottles on more parts of the Surface, for the early-game mage on the go.
I can definitely see how this would be challenging to make work and look right, though, considering how many "branch" sprites are angled, covered in leaves, or even animated...
I'd assume putting the lantern behind the branch on the Z-axis might function as something of a band-aid for those first two issues, but I can't imagine syncing the swaying of a lantern with the swaying of a tree (let alone in a way that looks natural) would be a simple task.
Regardless, I couldn't resist throwing this idea out there!
