tModLoader [HELP] How to call an effect in multiplayer?

I have the snippet of code below called by ProcessTriggers in my Player.cs-

C#:
private void Renew()
        {
            meter = meter - 100;
            int numberHearts = Main.rand.Next(1, 3);
            for (int index = 0; index < numberHearts; ++index)
            {
                Vector2 heartOffset = new Vector2((float)((double)player.position.X + (double)player.width + Main.rand.Next(-160, 160)), (float)((double)player.position.Y + (double)player.height));
                Item.NewItem(player.getRect(), ItemID.Heart, 1, false, 0, false);
            }
        }
however, in multiplayer the meter will decease but the hearts will never spawn on any players. How can I drop items on a player that inputs a keybind?
