How does the sprite size work in terraria?
what are the specific formats? 32x32? can it be any size for a sprite?
im confused how the sprites work :( i want to make sprites but i dont know the
formats of what are acceptable (in game) sprite sizes.

if some one could please explain how sprites work in terraria, that would be great.

For weapons, there's no specific size. they vary quite a bit, but you can pick one and use that as an estimate for how big your sprite should be.

What I do is first load up paint.net. Then what I do is make the size 150, then erase all the white, until I see nothing on it but gray and dark gray checkers. I then save it, and use it as a Template.

When doing a sprite on it, I be sure to click save as.

do you start in the middle or the corner of the canvas?

I start near the bottom left.

Not really. If you make it too big it might not even show up..
For bigger sprites, use 4x4 pixels, (Or for bigger mobs/bosses)

And when resizing (when you're done)...
Resize 200%, and select Nearest Neighbor.
I'd recommend resizing to 50% if editing a pre-existing sprite that already has 2x2 pixels.
