Portfolio/Multi-Topic Helping Throwers Into Hardmode

As we all know, throwers are really lacking in Hardmode. So, this is my fix. Please note, i do now know the Devs don't want to add anymore to the Throwing class, as they wanted it to be a Prehardmode class only. That being said, i still want to continue this.

Wall Of Flesh

dropped by the hungry (5-10 50% chance)

Can also be crafted with 25 crimstone/ebonstone blocks to make 50

Hardmode - Armours
All Armours have a throwing helmet
Cobalt
3 defense
15% Increased throwing damage

Palladium
4 defense
20% increased throwing damage

Mythil
6 defense
20% increased throwing velocity

Orichalcum
7 defense
25% increased throwing velocity

Adamantite
9 defense
25% increased throwing critical strike chance

Titanium
10 Defense
30% increased throwing critical Strike Chance

Hallowed
12 Defense
15% increased throwing velocity
15% increased throwing Critical Strike Chance
15% increased throwing Damage

Chloroypte
15 Defense
20% Increased throwing Damage
20% chance that throwing weapons don't break on impact (so they can be collected)
20% increased throwing critical strike chance

Now for the class specific Armour, which is...


Propulsion Armour (Full Set)
Set Bonus - All throwing weapons have a 15% chance to stick in the target, dealing DoT, also allows the wearer to dash (like Tabi/Shield Of Cuthulu)
Crafting - 50 Sandy Bars (more on that later), 20 Antlion Mandibles, 20 Sturdy Fossils

Propulsed Helmet
Crafting - 15 sandy bars, 5 Antlion Mandibles and Sturdy fossils
20 Defense
15% Increased throwing Knockback
25% increased Throwing Damage

Propulsion Pack
Crafting - 20 Sandy bars, 10 Antlion Mandibles and Sturdy Fossils
25 Defense
20% increased throwing Critical strike chance
40% Increased throwing range

Propulsed Greaves
Crafting - 15 sandy bars, 5 Antlion Mandibles and Sturdy fossils
15 Defense
20% Increased throwing velocity
30% Chance Throwing weapons don't break on impact (so they can be reused)

I'm toying with the idea of adding Martian Conduit Plating into the recipe, as i imagine that with a name like propulsion, its quite a spacey themed Armour set (in my minds eye that is)

Hardmode - Weapons
So the way the bone glove and the afore mentioned Flesh Wrangerler work is one of my favorite throwing elements, so alot of weapons will be based off that

Ninja Throwing Glove
35 Throwing Damage
15% Critical Strike Chance
Fast Speed
Weak Knockback
Throws Status Causing Shurikans
Requires Shurikans in Inventory/ Ammo slot
Each Shurikan has a 10% chance of causing One of these Status effects:
On Fire!
Poison
Frostburn
Additionally they also have a 5% chance of Inflicting one of these:
Cursed flames/Ichor (depending on what biome was there to start with)
ShadowFlame
Venom
Confused
Crafting - 100 Shurikans, Cobalt/Palladium Gloves (more on that soon)

Hidden Blades
40 Throwing Damage
10% Critical Strike chance
Average Speed
Weak Knockback
Throws 3 Throwing Knives (any sort) At Once
Requires Throwing Knives in Inventory/ Ammo slot
Crafting - 100 Throwing Knives (any sort), Cobalt/Palladium gloves

Crystal Javelins
45 Throwing damage
10% Critical strike chance
Slow Speed
Strong Knockback
Splits into 3 shards upon impact, each dealing 15 damage
Crafting - 20 Crystal shards, 20 Pearlwood, makes 20

Ichor Throwing Knives
35 Throwing damage
10% critical strike chance
Fast Speed
Average knockback
Has 50% chance to inflict Ichor Debuff
Crafting - 30 Throwing Knives, 2 Ichor, makes 30

Cursed Shurikens
35 Throwing Damage
10% critical strike chance
Very Fast Speed
Weak Knockback
Has 30% chance to inflict Cursed Flames
Crafting - 30 Shurikens, 2 Cursed Flames, makes 30


I'm Not sure if these would allow you to take down the Mechs, but for now i'll say combined with the Throwing Armours that yes, they can. If not let me know :p

Holy Glove (name is WIP)
50 Throwing Damage
10% Critical Strike Chance
Fast Speed
Average Knockback
Throws 2 Different Throwing items at once (Excluding Grenades)
Requires Throwing Weapons in Inventory to work
Crafting - 20 Hallowed Bars, Adamantite/Titanium Gloves

Holy Throwing Knives (again, name is WIP)
30 Throwing Damage
5% Critical Strike Chance
Fast Speed
Weak Knockback
Summons Stars ON impact with ground, dealing an additional 20 Damage

If values are wrong for the tier they are in, please let me know. Finally, All glove like weapons cut the damage of their projectiles in half, and then add on the damage the glove has, just so its not too OP!

Hardmode Accessories
Explosive Pack Mk1
All Thrown weapons produce an explosion in a 2 by 2 area upon hitting an enemy. Deals 1/5 of the weapons damage.
Crafted with 20 Bombs, 5 Mythil/Orichalcum bars and a Toolbelt at a Tinkerers Workshop

Legionnaire's Backpack
All Javelin variants pierce 3 enemies, have 10% increased Velocity and have a 15% chance to not be consumed
Crafted with 20 Javelins, 5 Mythil/Orichalcum Bars and a Backpack (more on that later) at a Tinkerers Workshop

Rouge's Utility Belt
All Throwing Knife variants have a 15% chance to inflict "Gouged", a new debuff that deals 5 damage over 1 second. It can stack up to 20 times. Additionally, hitting an enemies back is always a critical hit.
Crafted with 20 Throwing Knives, 5 Mythil/Orichalcum bars and a Toolbelt

Tooltip - While they do nothing on there own, you can't help feel they will help you (maybe, WIP)

Leather
Crafted from 2 Rotten Chunks/Vertebrae at a Workbench
Note - Leather already exists ingame, but is only crafted with Rotten Chunks. I lowered the amount needed and made it available in Crimson worlds as well.

Backpack (accessory)
Gives 4 more inventory slots.
Crafted with 20 Leather at a Loom

Sandy Bars
1 Chlorophypte Bar, 4 Antlion Wings

Antlion Wings
Dropped by Antlion Swarmers in both pre hardmode and hard mode

The following are new ideas added 09/09/2017

Sandy Bars will also be able to craft more items.

Sandbomb
40 Throwing Damage
4% Critical Strike Chance
Average Speed
Average Knockback
Explodes on contact with enemies and solid blocks into a 3 by 3 sandcloud. The sandcloud deals 1 damage per tick to any enemy caught in the cloud
Crafted with 20 bombs and 2 Sandy Bars. Makes 20.

Worm Bait
5 Throwing Damage
4% Critical Strike Chance
Fast Speed
Very Weak Knockback
While the bait does very little damage, if it hits an enemy a much smaller Dune Splicer appears from the ground and hits the enemy for 20 dps for 3 seconds. Multiple baits on the same enemy won't summon more than 1 worm at a time.
Crafted with 5 Mushrooms and 2 Sandy Bars. Makes 10.

Antlion Wings
Flight time - 2.67 Seconds
Height - 81 Tiles
Horizontal Speed Bonus - 150%
Crafted with 20 Souls of Flight, 5 Antlion Wings and 5 Sandy Bars
Appearance - Like Antlion Swarmer wings

Explosive Pack Mk 2 (Accessory)
All Thrown Weapons produce a Sandcloud in a 2 by 2 area upon hitting an enemy. The Sandcloud deals 0.5 damage per tick and lasts 3 seconds.
Crafted with 5 Sandbombs, 15 Sandy Bars and a Toolbelt at a Tinkerers Workshop


Extra Features
All boomerang weapons should deal Throwing Damage
Gladiator armour has an increased drop chance (10% per piece)
The Gladiator Helmet increases Thrown weapon Velocity by 10%, and Javelin Velocity by 20%
The Gladiator Breastplate increases Thrown weapon damage by 10%, and Javelin throw speed by 15%
The Gladiator Leggings increase Movement Speed by 15%, and Thrown weapon Velocity by an additional 10%
The Gladiator armour now has a set bonus - Every 5th Javelin thrown summons 4 Javelins from the sky at wherever the original Javelin hit
The Gladiator armour should be renamed to The Hoplite armour

Please note all values are simply placeholders as i'm not sure on how well they do for the level of progression. if you have any feedback please post it, although only constructive criticism!

Ooh, what if there was an item like the infinite ammo called the "Pelt-a-copia" that gives you infinite of a basic throwing item. Also an added 5% critical strike chance and a half chance of not consuming ammo without a weapon to shoot/catapult the item you use when the "Magic Boomerang" is equipped.
 
Added Class Armour and started on new Weapons. Also Added new crafting recipes. Any spriters that want to have a go please tell me :)
 
Maybe could be more throwing knife or javelins like the arrows (like ichor throwing knife, crystal javelin or something).
Also maybe some hard-mode grenade?

I think pre Hardmode is OK, just like the Giant Harpy Feather.
 
I fully support. Throwers are quite an underdog class at the moment, and I hope they'll go through the same paths that the Summoner had in terms of development.
In another thread some time ago, I had the idea that if the Thrower had its own celestial tier, it would be called Comet. I'm bad at thinking of names from space, so you can do with this as you like.
Good luck on getting this suggestion some well-deserved attention.

Thanks so much! If we had a Celestial Tier,i was thinking of something like comet, but i'm still deciding on whether i want Celestial. i have other ideas but we'll see
 
I was actually about to make this suggestion. I love it! Yours is much better than mine. Though I would say make a throwing pillar.
