I'd like to be able to easily hide logic gates. It's much simpler underground, but above ground you need absurdly thick walls or giant dark rooms for nothing but mechanisms just to avoid the logic gates being blatantly visible. I think I and others would prefer if they were simply invisible outside of wiring mode perhaps somewhat like actuators.

you can use shadow paint.
all that is visible is a pitch-black section of the map, if you use shadow paint both with a paint roller (paints background walls) and a paintbrush ( paints placed items and blocks).
In many maps we play for roleplay, doors between divisions of a house and elevators, which are all actualy teleporter-based, use shadow paint to make the silhouette of the door, and to conceal the actual teleporter AND the switch.
