How do you organize your hotbar?

(I use the scroll wheel)

I use shift to use my torches, axes, and pickaxes. All summoning weapons are stored beneath my hotbar, right next to my picks/axes. Magic mirror is in the bottom right corner above the trash, fishing gear is stored in piggy bank/money trough.

8. Usually i put Rope here when i dont have Wings or Hooks, after i got some i tend to put some block here

I totally didn't realize that you can use shift for tools from your inventory. So I'm redoing my hotbar as I type (I'm starting the game up, dang it, started up the modded version....).

1-6. Weapons, generally organized by how they attack (not damaged based though, I have eight hotbar sets, two for each class and only Summoning classes mix damage types. Besides that I only mix damage types when I make a temporary 'everything' class)
7. The RoD (Rod of Discord, that acronym just makes my day when I see it)
8. Ice Rod
9. Piggy bank (for a few minutes)
0. Cell phone (same as above)
 
1.Legendary vortex ham axe

2.Light vortex pickaxe

3.Rod of discord

4. Unreal sdmg-I put my main weapon here
it switches depending on the class I am using

5.Demonic last prism

6.Godly Terrarian

7.Rutless Stardust dragon staff

This is the way i organize my hotbar. it's a little bit different if i'm doing modded, but 1-7 primarily stay the same.

9. fishing rod/ bait [I don't primarily have these in my inventory unless i'm doing angler quests]
10. torches/ glowsticks [early game]

This is, by no means, a 100% accurate representation of how I always organize it. But it almost always follows a pattern similar or equal to this. I almost always place the pickaxe on the third slot.

4: My other class weapon (EX if im playing melee NOT as a class playthrough, im gonna have another class weapon here, like magic. I might be playing melee, but i might have a ranged armor in my vanity, and this slot would be a weapon from ranged.)
5: (PS4) Beater (PC) pretty much anything
6: Torches if i dont have a good light pet, and if i dont have one, pretty much anything
7: You know the drill, pretty much anything
8: Digging Claws
9: Da Drill
0: Magic Mirror, Ice Mirror, or Cell Phone

This isn't 100% how i do it, but is close
 
1: Main melee
2: Secondary melee/throwing weapon
3: Main magic
4: Main ranged
5: Pickaxe
6: Hammer/Axe
7: Bombs
8: free (for various purposes like platforms or wirecutters)
9: some form of glowsticks
10: torches

Like some above, I too usually leave the first row in inventory for secondary stuff.

1: Secondary main melee/ for fun melee
2: Secondary throwing weapon
3: Secondary magic
4: Secondary ranged (usually a bow if main is a gun)
5: Bug net or fishing pole, depending if I'm fishing or looking for bait
6: Hammer or axe depending on which is in the hotbar
7: More bombs
8: same as slot 8 on hotbar
9: reserved for reserve accessories/alternate ammos
10:reserved for more reserve accessories/alternate ammos

If I'm building, slots 7, 8, and 9 are used for blocks and other building stuff. I usually keep my potions and magic mirror on the far left side of the inventory and important items like gold keys, shadow key, and other items of that kind on the bottom row. Info items like clocks and compasses go on the far right.
 
The type of weapons depend on the character; but all my characters' inventories are basically the same:

1. Best overall weapon currently in possession.
2. Pickaxe/Picksaw
3. Axe/Hamaxe
4. Weapon.
5. Weapon.
6. Weapon.
7. The Grand Design
8. (Golden) Bug Net
9. Rod of Discord
0. Mirror/Cell Phone

Then there's Healing Potions, Torches, Glowsticks and a Money Trough in the right side of the inventory.

BTW you can actually go into the setting and make it 10 I have done that. Atleast for my Samsung.

but anyways

1-4 Weapons of each class such as Meowmere, S.D.M.G, Last Prism, or something else summon is just click and out.

5 Pickaxe

6 For me hamaxe

7-9 others such as Rod of Discord, Money Trough, Portal gun

0 Usually blank if being used usully the Cell Phone
