tModLoader How to Create Mods

I've been looking everywhere to find some sort of tutorial to make a mod for tmodloader. Everything I've found is either out of date, or doesn't work. Can someone teach me some basics on making a simple mod? More specifically a consumable throwing weapon. Thanks!

For starters, there is an Example Mod available for download at the official tModLoader thread (https://forums.terraria.org/index.php?threads/1-3-tmodloader-a-modding-api.23726/), which contains the bare framework of a mod, as well as a bunch of examples of various kinds of items, tiles, NPCs, etc.
The tModLoader thread also contains some tips for starting off under the header CREATING MODS.
I've been told the aforementioned Discord server is the best place for follow-up questions, a link to it can be found in the tModLoader thread, too.
There's also the official tModLoader documentation (https://github.com/blushiemagic/tModLoader/wiki).
