Playing with friends, I found that the world is not autosaved and if the server is crashed, then all changes will not be saved ... the changes will be saved if you write the "save" or "exit" command. How to enable autosave and adjust the frequency?
 
A dedicated server autosaves every in-game day at dawn.

I'm not aware of any method to change its frequency while sticking to vanilla, but I'd like to change that too!

TShock offers configurations to change the autosave timer but it's a whole different setup and AFAIK still in development (beta) for Terraria 1.4
