Mac i can't open crates/treasure bags/goodie bags/presents

well first things first, this may or may not be a bug, it could just be I have no idea how to do it. so what happened was I got a crate right clicked but nothing happened. i use a trackpad so that may be the reason. please tell me if it's a bug or I can't do it correctly.
 
I am thinking that the Trackpad was the one that did it. Was the crates in a chest or placed down? A screenshot would also be nice.

they were in hot bar

Your inventory needs to be open. Then, you right-click the bag/crate/present. If you can't right-click, then do whatever Mouse2 is set to on your computer.
