Xbox One I need a guide on how to make a shooting station for weapons that fire projectiles.

It's all in the title. I need a special stationary tower that blocks projectiles, then opens up so I can fire my own without taking too many bullets to the face.
 
You can make a one-way barrier by placing platforms along a single block thick wall and sloping them away from it, no wiring required. I'm not familiar with specific mechanics in console edition, but I assume that it would work the same as it does on PC.
 
Which directions do you need to fire in? Is it just left/right? Or up/down as well?
