Hello terrarians! I want to start Calamity mod with my friend (revengeance difficulty). What should we start with? Do you have any suggestions?

Install also DragonLens mod. There is a special godmode that allows damage but on death only outputs a chat message with "Godmode prevented death: (death reason)". Goal is to get the chat spammed with those messages as little as possible.
I did not try if Revegence mode works with DragonLens.

My friend has beaten Dark Souls 1, 2 and 3 on 100%, so I don't think we're gonna really struggle

You should have calamity (duh)
Calamity mod music (also duh)
magic storage (its like essential at this point)
recipe browser (will save you hours of the wiki)
boss checklist (to know where to go in the progression)
wiki page of calamity in the background(like that you can see what loadout is recommended)
alchemist npc (to simplify farming potion and boss bag)

everything under is optional
auto reforge (save time but not money)
helpful npc (simplify even more mining and fishing and faming)
calamity vanilla music (replace every biome music by calamity one)

If you got the mod most of the alchemist npcs should start showing up after defeating eye of cthuhlu. As for the helpful npc I got no clue since I've never used the mod.

for helpful npc you need
miner(sell ore/gem and some block): 5 gold coin + 1 stone
hunter(sell mob drop/ammo/soul):5 gold coin + 1 gel
Fisherman(sell current fish quest/fish/bait):5 gold coin + 1 trout
Herb guy(sell potion material and critter): 5 gold coin + 1 flower (I forgot what it is)
