if i could fuse the brain of confusion with the spore sac to make a great endgame item or even the shield of cthulhu and royal gel i really think they lose all their use very early on this way they can be useful again in the endgame

Shield of Cthulhu remains awesome all the way until Master Ninja Gear, I don't think that needs a tinker.
