PC If I catch crates in pre-hardmode and open them in hardmode, can I get hardmode ores?

Simply put, yes. It makes no sense whatsoever. Then again, we also have the lord of the moon dropping a Nyan Cat sword (Or as I call it, the Meowmeme).
