I know, I know. An alchemist class has been suggested over and over again, but they all seem to be a ruse for making a Healers class. I looked through a bunch of these threads, and they really didn’t seem to hit the nail, so to speak. So, I decided throw my hat into the ring (also drawing the ring itself) by making my own alchemist class. My alchemist class would be a partly-support based class, but can definitely have a full adventure singleplayer.

Basics

Alchemy weapons deal alchemical damage. There are three types of alchemical weapons: Sprayers, Sprinklers, and Droppers.

For sprayers, they basically attack like a mix of Elf Melters and Clentaminators. They wouldn’t fire as fast as them, that’d be OP. They’ll have varying range. I think the explanation is over for these ones.

Sprinklers are placable. They stack in 5s. Placing them down makes them shoot periodically, similar to Ichor Sticklers. They are slow, but have immense damage in return.

Droppers drop a tile of the loaded potion/brew, falling until reaching a block. They deal damage as they pierce infinitely through enemies.

Brews are what your alchemical weapons fire. There are multiple brews to use.

Armors

Before I get to the weapons, which would take too much time to read through, I’ll handle the armors. Alchemy armors will have defense scores between melee & ranged, and they’ll have rather average damage increases. Well, time to see them!

Sunplate armor

Sunplate Helmet, Sunplate Shirt, Sunplate Pants

Defense: 16 (5, 6, 5)

Crafted with 20 Fallen Stars, and 50 Sunplate Blocks.

Increases alchemical damage by 11%

Has a 10% to not consume brew

Increases sprinkler usage time by 5%

Increases sprayer range by 8%

Set bonus: Alchemical shots have a 10% to be replaced by a star, which heals 15 health

Technite armor

Technite Visor, Technite Breastplate, Technite Greaves

Defense: 21 (6, 8, 7)

Crafted with 30 Granite Cores (dropped by Granite mobs post-skeletron) and 80 Granite Blocks.

Increases alchemical damage by 18%

Has a 15% to not consume brew

Increases sprinkler usage time by 10%

Increases sprayer range by 10%

Set bonus: Complete night vision



Hardmode Ore Goggles (Cobalt>Palladium>Mythril>Orichalcum>Adamantite>Titanium>Hallowed>Chlorophyte)

Defense: 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 23

Increases alchemical damage by 14, 15, 17, 19, 21, 22, 25%

Has a 30% to not consume brew

Increases sprinkler usage time by 14%

Increases sprayer range by 15%



Biochemist armor

Biochemist Goggles/Thinking Cap, Biochemist Lab Coat, Biochemist Slacks

Crafted from 10 Funky Matter (Dropped by Martian mobs) and 50 Chlorophyte bars

Defense: 54 (19, 21, 14)

Increases alchemical damage by 38%

Has a 20% to not consume brew

Increases sprinkler usage time by 13%

Increases sprayer range by 15%

Set bonus: Goggles: All alchemical sprayer and sprinkler attacks spray for 50% more length, and have a 40% to be double the damage

Thinking Cap: Over time, a thinking cloud will collect above you. It has five stages. Clicking the “Down” key will cause a blast of brew, which will heal you by 15>25>40>60>80 health, depending on stage.

White Dwarf armor

“Brew for the heavens themselves.”

White dwarf Goggles, White dwarf Lab Coat, White dwarf Greaves

Crafted from 45 Luminite Bars

Defense: 67 (19, 26, 22)

Increases alchemical damage by 51%

Has a 40% to not consume brew

Increases sprinkler usage time by 20%

Increases sprayer range by 18%

Set bonus: In multiplayer: Healing a teammate summons a white dwarf, which hovers above you for 5 seconds, blasting homing acid at enemies, which deal around 80 damage.

In singleplayer: Dealing a critical strike summons a white dwarf, which hovers above you for 3 seconds, blasting white brew, which heals for around 60 health.

Crafted from 10 Bottles of Water & 1 Gel. Makes 10
Damage: 3
Cuts target speed (or firing speed) in half

Necro Brew

Crafted with Hellstone.
Damage: 10

Ichor Brew
Damage: 14

Cursed Brew
Damage: 15
Inflicts Cursed Flames

Wooden Funnel (Sp)
Damage: 6
Knockback: 0.5
Range: 8 tiles
Use time: 15
Crafted from 10 Wood at a Workbench.

Ore Sprayers (Iron, Lead, Silver, Tungsten, Gold, Platinum)
Damage: 10,12,14,15,18,20
Knockback: 1
Range: 12, 11, 13, 11, 16, 13 tiles
Use time: 20, 18, 16, 14, 12, 10
Crafted from 5 Bars at an Anvil.

Silver/Tungsten Sprinkler
Damage: 40
Knockback: 2
Range: 50 tiles
Fire rate (basically usetime): 25
Crafted from 6 Silver/Tungsten Bars at an Anvil.

Glass Dropper
Damage: 14
Knocback: 0.5
Use time: 15
Crafted from 3 Leather, and 10 Glass Blocks at a Workbench.

Techno Liquidator (Sp)
Damage: 28
Knocback: 1
Range: 22 tiles
Use time: 10
Crafted from 15 Granite Cores at an Anvil.

Ancient Streamer (D)
Damage: 25
Knocback: 0
Use time: 18

Gaia Sprinkler
Damage: 65
Knocback: 1.5
Range: 60 tiles
Fire rate: 20

Burning Brew Blaster (Sp)
Damage: 40

This is pretty neat, but the placing sprinklers thing I don't know. Sentries are kinda hard to pull off, but I guess the payoff is big damage, so seems good. How would the brews be made/who woul would you buy them from? Which doctor seems like the obvious choice, but I want more detail on the brews.
