Just to share - I've run both the "world size choice tied to device RAM" and the "can we get to PC Small world size" up the chain previously - so they are aware of the ideas.
Its more of a thing that doesn't need to be tackled at the same time as a massive content update...and even then, it becomes an ever-moving target as more content (like 1.3) could get added.
HYPOTHETICAL EXAMPLE THESE NUMBERS ARE NOT REAL THIS IS JUST AN ILLUSTRATION: So, today, your 2GB device can run medium worlds (hypothetically), but if/when 1.3 were to hit, suddenly it could only run mobile/small worlds and you would need 4GB to run medium? What happens to your existing save? Does you app not work anymore/crash? Do you not get 1.3? Etc, etc.
Not saying such a thing is impossible (I, too would love to see PC Small as the standard - which may be more possible), its just that the more you add onto that, the more you accelerate the potential future RAM stuff.
(More or less I think that is what all they have to deal with under those potential ideas - based on what I can tell - but I'm no programmer and I'm not 505/CG either)
