Man, I can't believe one of the first things I say gets a Devs attention! Man I am good speaking of Devs how have you been loki and everyone else like Crowno and Andrew? Oh by the way I'm sorry for the trouble I put you through I know that 505 try's their hardest I just get a little anxious after some time I'm not a mean person or anything i sometimes get a little worried if I'm gonna get left behind I just want a good game (like this one :guidewink:) to be fun and have no player left behind I don't want terraria to have a thing happen like Destiny:the taken King where all non TTK players got locked out of things because they didn't get something I don't want that happening to mobile players I am just a very very sensitive player that has smart ideas that no one looks at with just a smile or anything nice usually just a sour or dull face only some people look at me like I'm a nice person (which I am) just to clarafy how smart and creative my ideas are I literally made a movie IN MY HEAD all in my head! And a game for that movie, with add ons for terraria and Minecraft and things I am usually never spotted by big people (like you) who make games or are on tv and things and I'm not one of those people who go OMG HE TALKED TO ME IM SO HAPPY no I'm one of those people who go when they get a reply from famous people or huge people in gaming or stuff like that I'm like: wait a developer sent me a reply? Cool! That's how I am calm so all I have to say is I'm sorry for this mess I made and if you want we could talk about some of my ideas in a conversation area thing whatever it's called okay? Okay.
Loki can't intervene in the game fix at all.

Well, not sure what to say that hasn't already been said:

- Bugs were found, bugs that needed to be fixed.

- That takes time to do. More time than expected.

- Such is game development.

I totally get the frustration and the desire for things to come sooner.

Not making excuses, just saying that is how game development works...and also why so many Devs (505 included) are so loathe to give launch dates or windows unless they are certain of them.

It's the never ending catch-22, that dynamic. :guidewink:

Regardless, I would say that people being hungry for the new stuff is never a bad thing - so I'll never rain on that feeling. Wish I could give you more - but I'm not a programmer nor is it my place. I do get the sense that it shouldn't be too much longer though...

All that said, calling people lazy and/or implying somehow anyone is sitting on anything is just silly, though. A lot of time has been spent - rightfully so - in stabilizing the existing game (tons of progress there, with more still to go of course) in parallel to developing this content. Perhaps that combined to create the gap you perceive...but I have to say it was time well spent.

Just my two cents.
Programming is hard. I don't even wanna think about Terrarias coding. It must be insane. But thanks for a little info for the release date. Cheers Loki and good luck!

No need to apologize at all.

I'm just a person...like everyone else on the team. We really try hard to keep in touch with all sides of our community - we really do appreciate you guys a TON.

All that said - as far as I am aware, things are still rolling right along. This delay isn't indicative of anything other than the better QA that 505 mentioned far earlier in the year.

yeaaa.. @505Games-Mobile they always make promise its coming out this week or this month and last month yall need to be honest when is coming out because people are getting upset cuase of yall but please make sure when is coming out i dont care how long does it take it take but please make sure when is coming ot

Want to know why they haven't given a definite release date? Because if they set a deadline that they may not be able to reach, everyone will flip out and call them liars.

You won't get a firm date until they've worked out everything and are 100% sure they'll be able to get everything fixed. Asking for a definitive "when" is asking for something that has the potential to piss you off.

If we get anything before it just drops on us, it will be a progress update

I'm still pissed that I can't play the game at all. It crashes all the time from falling, running, or moving liquids to fast or at bulk. With that being said I really don't think much progress has been done nor time "well spent". You push new updates but have yet to polish out the old ones. What is the game worth if you overload it to the point of crash and your supporting fans and ,may I remind you!, the people who fund your team can't even play the old :red: you made. I play console more than mobile because it runs smooth. I don't even care that I don't have the updates because at least it runs. This game is trash at this point. No more excuses, fix the game or figure out a way to reimburse your customers whether it be something special or a refund of the pay that didn't get used to make the game what it should be. Yea probably maybe if they give us a progress update like Minecraft PEs redstone I hope that's what happening

I am excited for the new update but there's a extra bug you need to look at. I was playing and on mobile Christmas has started but I have to use two presents to actually get something plz fix this ( ps I call it the bahhumbug.) Thanks-the legendary terrarian

Stop worrying about the release date
Infact knowing the release date just puts even more stress on me just play another game or do something else in your life, the developers are working hard and you guys are just begging for release dates.
All I can say right now is that developers can't tell the future

A lot has indeed been done this year - but clearly it has not covered off the issue that you are having. So let's try to see what can be done there.

Any chance you can provide more information and/or crash logs (not here - either via PM or using the 505 CS Portal). Crashes are far from a universal thing (I can honestly say that I've personally never had one with Terraria Mobile), but as I noted elsewhere, finding any continued and repetitive crash issues is something that only detailed info from you guys can help with. So I would urge anyone in that scenario to channel the frustrations into helping fix the issue.

Not making light of the issue nor saying it doesn't exist or shouldn't be addressed, of course.

Hello everyone-

So, we are hard at work on the Mobile 1.2.3-4 content update now that the promised fixes and initial rebalancing are in your hands - still planned for an October launch.

Along that road, we have news that will affect the small percentage of Terrarians that are still playing on older iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch (iOS devices). We wanted to take some time to share what's going on, why, and our plan here in advance so that you can have time to adjust/ask questions/etc.

There are some behind-the-scenes things for newer iOS devices as well, so even if you aren't on an older device, it is important that you read on.

(Loki Edit) This does not affect non-iOS devices at this time.

The Update
It’s been more than two years since Terraria launched on the App Store and during this time, we have continued to add new features and content to the game regularly. More new content = bigger worlds = larger save files.

Essentially then, it all comes down to cloud saving and file sizes. If you’re using an iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch (with iOS 7 or lower), the supported cloud saving system will not work any longer once the new 1.2.3-4 update arrives. If we just push the update down, it will immediately break old cloud saves for all of those devices, meaning you would lose your world/characters and the ability to cloud save any further. We know how important those files are to Terraria players!

The Options
This creates a tough situation, leaving two paths forward each with their pros and cons. Unfortunately, this call has to be made for everyone and cannot be selected individually.
  • Do not release the new content to older devices
    • This keeps existing cloud saves and the ability to cloud save intact for those players
    • Of course, this means that these players will not get all of the new content
    • However, do note that as Terraria continues to update, the RAM requirements will rise as well (because Terraria has to fully load into RAM due to its not being instanced/level-based) - and we are already pushing up against the limits of older 512MB devices.

  • Release the content to everyone and just accept the collateral damage to cloud saves for some users
    • This means everyone gets to enjoy the new content
    • Anyone on an older device would immediately and permanently lose their saves and the ability to cloud save at all.
    • The chaos that would occur with anyone unaware of this announcement would be far worse than "I did not get my update" - again, we know how much saves mean to you guys and how much it hurts to lose them.

The Path Forward
After much deliberation, we have decided to proceed with option one. This means that anyone that is running an iOS 7 or less device will NOT receive the upcoming content update. We just feel that leaving you with a fully functional game, complete with your saves you worked so hard on, is the better ofthe two choices - particularly when we also consider that the RAM limits are quite likely to become a second issue in the near term.

We are truly sorry that this is the case - but we are just limited by what is possible here. That said, the existing game is a solid title and one that is certainly quite enjoyable on those older devices.

For newer devices (iOS 8+), things are more positive, though we have some work to do. Here is how that will play out:
  • Behind the scenes, we will migrate your current saves from the old cloud system over to the “new” CloudKit (which has actually been out since 2014 so we really tried to hold off on this change as long as we could)
  • We will make absolutely certain that everything is working properly - again, we know how important these files are to you all! - before we officially fully shift everything over.
  • We will then decommission the old files.

Important Note About the Use of Multiple Devices

If you own two or more devices, one of which runs an iOS that is no longer supported (iOS7 and below) and one device that is supported (iOS8 and up), and you synch the Terraria save files on the supported iOS 8+ device in the cloud - the save files will be deleted from the older (and no longer supported) iOS 7 device. If you update that device afterwards to iOS8+, you will then be able get access to your saves again.

We realize the situation isn’t ideal but it’s the only way for us to continue to develop new content for the mobile game as technical requirements increase with each update. It is not news that we are happy to bring to you guys, but we feel it is important to be open and transparent with you all. Our hope is that you will understand the issue, agree with our choice, and understand the rationale behind it.

We are certain that you have a ton of questions and thoughts, so we would encourage you to share them here in this thread and we will try to get back to you on those. Thanks, as always for your continued support of Terraria!

I want to know when the update is because I've been wait over 3 months for it soon post something soon
