Then, maybe making it so they never stand in front of storage items?
The first 2 ideas could be done by modifying their AI. (I think)

This thread is super old, but I'm not the one who revived it, so I would just like to say that I never knew this, either, despite having 1000+ hours in the game. I'm not sure what the AI improvement was supposed to be, because they still stand in front of chests, sometimes, though it seems to happen a lot more often with the flying piggy bank from the Money Trough, so maybe they just stand in front of chests less?
