Invalid Housing

The house on the left keeps getting marked for invalid housing and I have no idea why but it's driving me nuts. Can anyone help me and please explain why I can never put anything in this house without it causing problems. I've never had this issue before

That's an odd one...I don't see why it would be any less valid than the housing on the right.

Maybe try moving the workbench + piggy bank away from the door, the chests away from the house, or moving the zombie banner elsewhere. Preferable one-by-one, and see if one of those causes the problem

My go-to suggestion is always "is there any evil biome in a screen distance from the room?" -- Because I know that there's a point in crimson/corruption spread where they're just close enough to trigger "This housing is invalid" but not close enough for the housing-is-corrupt message.

I took your suggestion and found the zombie banner was the issue. It still raises the question as to why it causes an issue

Na the evil biomes are multiple areas away

This is just a theory, as I've not checked the game's code, but it might be related with the NPC Housing banner, and that they can't overlap with other banners.
Another one might be that NPCs are trying to avoid standing in front of the chest. The NPC banner also decides where the NPC will stand at night. So if that's the case, then every position that includes a chest or container would not be an option.
