Hi everyone! I have a similar question, I saw your reply here punchready PC - Is it safe to host a Dedicated Server off of your IP? and I thank you for answearing a lot of question that I had!

When I host a server, it shows in the server cmd that a lot of IP's are trying to access it, I noticed that they are not trying to connect on the terraria server port (7777), but what if they do? Could someone with malicius intetions connect to my local network through my externalIP and my port foward?

This screenshot is from the terraria server terminal:

Any device connected to the internet will experience this, these are (port) scanners which scan the entire IPv4 space for various reasons, some to find vulnerable devices, some to make IoT search engines, some purely for research. If you look up the last IP there for example, you can see that its from a DigitalOcean datacenter.
Since you (hopefully) only forwarded port 7777 from your router, these scanners will simply end up on the Terraria server and then do nothing, as none of them are interested in Terraria servers. Even if they were, Terraria has no vulnerabilities that would make this an issue.
