Is it possible to extend the depth of the Terraria world?

Hey all!

I'm new to the modding scene and I'm not to familiar with the limitations of what is and isn't possible.

I've been designing a new biome for my mod so far, but a concern I had is placement. I wanted to put it underneath the underworld, but I was unsure if this was even possible or not, considering the world borders.

What is the best way in which I could go about this task? Would I extend the borders, or make the world smaller?

Any input would be appreciated!

Uh tbh, that's going to be a whole ordeal, I don't even know if tmodloader gives access to messing with that, you'd have to take a good old poke in source

It is technically possible to extend the world - the best example/tech demo of this I know of is @Dradonhunter11's Infinite World Mod: tModLoader - Infinite world - A proof of concept that prove nothing is impossible (W.I.P)

However - it is not something that is simple or easy to do, as you will probably be able to tell from the linked post, so I'd reccomend trying to find another spot for it if possible.
