Texture Pack Is it possible to install custom textures without mods like it is with custom music?

I'm not really a fan of all these Terraria modloaders, TCCL takes forever to load up and the other ones just don't work for me or take a long time to set up, I've noticed you can change your music by replacing the file (and of course, making a copy of the default file incase you want to switch back) but is it possible to change your textures like that by replacing the default texture files?

Yes, it is possible, but you need to convert .png files to .xnb ones first.

There is plenty of software to do it. Google PNG to XNB converter and you'll find tons.
