Is Minecraft Steve or the Terraria Player stronger? I have the answer.

The Terrarian does have a larger inventory, 50 slots excluding ammo/coins ect... compared to Steve's mere 36 (37 with off hand)

Also I remember back in 1.1 you could hit enemies with any block and it would deal 1 damage :dryadtongue: (At least on the PS3)
This feature is still present in the N Terraria mod (it's a standalone mod, to try it go here)

This mod is pretty old, it seems to be made in 2012, before 1.2 came out. I'm surprised that it's still being developed, it's proably one of the oldest (if not) mods that were released to the public.

Maybe master mode will have a 7th slot, bringing to total to 99.
(Also yesterday on my modded world I entered hardmode and defeated all 3 mechanical bosses a couple of days later in the same night smashing no alters (craftes and durasteel armour) and also 2 hardmode thorium bosses maybe I should play expert more as normal is too easy, if only the beginning of the game was somewhat nerfed)

We don't know if that's true yet, and I hope it's not, I'd rather Master mode be something more than just a health and damage buff, and it should have more exclusive items plus instead of buffing enemy damage (serious some enemies in expert deal way too much already), they should revamp their attacks.
 
Either there's no way to determine which is stronger, or they are equally strong. Here's the (fairly silly and hypothetical) reasoning.

It's possible to calculate the maximum weight that a player-character can carry in each game system, but for a meaningful comparison we'd have to let them switch worlds and try each other's too. And of course since neither game has RPG-style attributes we'd find that Steve and Alex can lift exactly the same weight in Terraria that Jane and Joe Terrarian can, and vice versa in Minecraft.

But we can't switch, so my vote is for "there's no way to determine".

That said, as an incentive for arithmetic practice this topic has got to be an all-time record holder! I applaud everyone who's speculated or philosophized.
 
Thinking that nebula fragments have the mass of a galaxy is crazy. But the terrarian is still a lot stronger than just carrying platinum.

Why? Simple actually: how much does a solar fragment weights? It is basically solid high density plasma, soooo... lets assume that it is as dense as neutron star (or just around), then place a piggy bank, a safe, a defenders forge and a void vault in the inventory. Fill everything with solar fragments aaaand....

Honestly, i don't know how much is it, i don't think i can do the math. I just said it in hopes that someone would do it. (Since i didn't see anyone do it) it should give us a more "realistic" answer than the universe lifter terraria player.

He can punch wood and walls to get blocks. Terrarian is helpless without pickaxe and axe.

Terraria guy also always has a pickaxe and axe (unless you throw them out), so maybe the terrarian has functional hands, but simply has no reason to use them when he has full access to tools.

They’re equally strong. If you place an ender chest in an ender chest, the resulting mass is infinite. You can do the same with piggy banks, so the strength of both of them are tied at infinity.

When I mentioned that point, I figured we should probably measure in non-carrying-capacity categories. Sadly, we haven't gotten very far with that so far. We could compare damage values with an iron sword, wooden sword, gold sword, or trident, but the ratio of strength (for example, Terraria's gold sword is stronger than iron, and Minecraft's is worse than iron) doesn't match up, suggesting shoddy craftsmanship could be a factor.

the terraria guy can buy a Defender's Forge, a Safe, a Piggy Bank, and a Void Vault, they will have a total of 160 Portable Storage slots
so doing the math: 1 copper coin(38950.0301731 grams) x 1,000,000(amount in a platinum coin) x 216(amount of slots you will have with the defenders forge n :red: in your inventory) = the terraria caracter can lift 8.413.206.517.389,6 grams (sure theres the weight of the defender's forge and safe and stuff but that's almost nothing)

Definitely the terrarian, if Minecraft had 999 stacks instead of 64, then Steve would win because of shoulder boxes….

Steve has a lot of accomplishments.
  • He is the main character of the biggest, most popular indie game ever made.
  • His gameplay style created an entire genre of other games (a mostly original idea).
  • He made it into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
  • He's the only guest character in Smash that broke Twitter (not even Sora did this).
Terraria/ Player is a bit more ambiguous, but still has some great accomplishments.
  • Terraria has one of the largest, most complex, gameplay guides and index in the world.
  • Is one of the most customizable, player-friendly games on the market.
  • Is one of the most community-content supportive/ supported games on the market (mods, texture packs, music etc.).
  • Consistently remains as one of the top 25 most-played games on Steam.
  • Is right up there with games like Skyrim, as far as developer/ community support is concerned.
At some point, these two games took completely different paths. The Player Character in Terraria isn't really a Mascot, that'd probably be a role more for The Guide. Minecraft Steve isn't even really the Mascot for indie games either, because he's now gone corporate. It's a lot of interesting things happening between these two I.P.s that place them in different stratospheres IMHO.

That being the case, I can only use what actually happens in each universe to measure "power level", if we are comparing each protagonist's strength, but at the end of the day, it's all just a popularity contest.

That said, I'd have to agree that Minecraft Steve wins, but only because of his Smash Bros. debut. A good number of the Characters from the Nintendo Universe have faced World Ending Events and emerged victorious (just like the Terraria Player); Minecraft Steve is fighting Heroes on that kind of level. Still, the Player Character from Terraria is pretty darn powerful too, and likely has the hardest game out of any Character in the Smash Bros. Roster, especially with how customizable the Worlds/ Seeds in Terraria are.

Steve just has too much star power though, and would likely have power-ups from different Minecraft Games, and now sits up on a throne with the likes of Mario, Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny; Plot Armor is the strongest armor there is, unfortunately. 😏 🤷‍♂️
 
I’ve noticed there’s been a significant focus on arm/carrying strength, so I would like to point out leg strength this time. Steve can jump 1 block high and starts taking fall damage at around 4 blocks, while the Terrarian jumps a whopping 7 blocks high and starts taking fall damage at 20 blocks. This is much easier to figure out than the others so we at least now know that the Terrarian has stronger legs :D
 
Terraria player has a lot of mystery and assumptions while Steve has a lot of verified accomplishments, so it's unfair :p
 
There's nothing left over when you exchange 100 pennies for a dollar. It's safer to assume something sensible, like the player exchanging money.

Apart from that, though, what you did is just completely absurd. You compared the mass of a crapload of copper coins to the mass of... what, exactly? Gold? Diamond? You didn't say. I'm gonna assume it's gold, since you mentioned gold armor. So, you compared copper to gold. Completely valid comparison. Or did you use copper? Because Minecraft doesn't have copper. Your calculations are based on an assumption that nobody makes except you, you're comparing two different metals, and seriously, who says that the number of slots is the maximum carrying capacity of your character? I can lift a chair, but it wouldn't fit in a backpack.
As of 1.17, Minecraft has copper.
