is protecting my jungle from crimson using a drill containment unit on another character considered cheating if youre about to enter hardmode and you have a crimson biome right next to the jungle?

Yea, it is for most people. You can play how ever you want though man. If you're playing multiplayer just make sure your friends are okay with it.

Technically, it’s outside help. It’s like using the zenith on another character to beat a boss you’re having trouble with.

However!

*:red:* the fact that there is no corruption/crimson jungle alternative, and *:red:* the spread of those biomes. It’s the least fun aspect of the game. not worth the worry and anxiety. I use Tedit to just delete a row down on either side of the jungle and call it a day.

as the great Reggie Fils-Amie said, “If you’re not having fun, why bother?”

It's only cheating if the tunnel bothers you each time you see it.
If you really don't want to, you can buy a few stacks of dynamites and blow down a tunnel yourself.
