Not sure if this belongs in mechanics or items since a bit of both, but decorating my house again made me realize that there aren’t a lot of items that can be placed on top of other items.
My suggestion is that if a player can stand on it, then you should also be able to place basically anything else on it.
Example - a glass kiln on top of a white painted dresser in a kitchen really resembles a pizza oven. But you can’t place it there directly. Or a cooking pot on top would make a cabinet to look like a stove top. A lot of the crafting stations look good just want other options besides the ground and platforms to place them down.
Example two - chest on top of a dresser or workbench. I’d really like to stack chests on top of workbenches or tinkerer bench. I can stack a huge terrarium across the top of 3 side by side workbenches but I can’t put a single chest on top of one?
Example 3 - placing statue on top of marble workbench like a pedestal. It’s a flat surface made out of marble lol.
A lot of this is purely decorative, but I feel like it could be seen as QoL too because optimizing workshops could be made even better. And it gives additional use for crafted furniture.
