3DS Edition. Hardcore. The World Starts In HardMode. No Wings.

I wasn't exactly sure where to post this since it's technically old-gen console discussion, but that is not the point of this thread. This thread is meant to be a place where I document and share the journey, and every Terraria run is a Journey, regardless of which version it is on. I have chosen this version of the game as it is the one I have spent the most hours in.

The rules are simple: If I die, I end the run, the world I play in will start in HardMode, I cannot use wings. I will try to collect every item, defeat every boss and just simply live for as long as I can.

This will be it; my final Playthrough, at least for many many years. I've been playing Terraria almost ritualistically since I was 9 years old. Now I'm 16, and I need to start prioritizing my future. I still love this game with a burning passion, but I can't postpone the journey of the real world for much longer.

I'll start posting progress updates and screenshots later today.

I can't really do anything at nighttime. If I leave my house, I'll instantly die to the possessed armours, wraiths and wandering eyes.

In a few hours, I'll post some actual ingame screenshots I've been taking as well as giving detailed explanations on to how I am going to beat this challenge.

In the meantime, feel free to ask me about the challenge as well as my experience with Terraria as a whole.

Mounts aren't actually in the 3DS version. Although I do hope I get far enough in the challenge to actually attempt the Frost Moon.

According to the wiki, the reindeer bells do exist on the 3DS version, however I cannot test to see if it’s true or not (I could never get to that high of a wave level on the 3DS)

I think it might be because 3DS is based off of 1.2.1 but has some 1.2.2 features, such as duke fishron. As far as I know, the item might exist but the mount most likely doesn't function. I remember spending hours grinding the king slime because I wanted to get the slimy saddle, but it never dropped. All mounts were added in a later minor update.

I highly doubt it doesn’t function, as I don’t see a reason why it wouldn’t. Accessories like the scope(?) and depth meter do not, but I don’t see why the reindeer bells couldn’t.

I honestly have no idea, but the 3DS version has tons of useless items. If you use an inventory editor, you can obtain dyes, even though you cannot dye items in that version. It's a weird version of the game lol

Also worth mentioning the wiki is wrong about several things for the 3DS version. For example, the granny pet is completely unobtainable but according to the wiki it’s available only on the 3DS.

Yeah, you are right actually. The wiki can be a bit unreliable. Just in case, I'll try farming frost moons if I ever somehow get that far

Yeah man good luck. The spectre hood should still have its old stats and mana sickness doesn’t exist so magic might be your best bet there.

I've been going for about six hours. Progress is pretty slow, but this is genuinely the most fun I have ever had with this game:

I have a hallow to my left and a crimson to my right. I realized that they would spread faster due to the world being in HardMode, so I built my base about 20 tiles in the air.

Morning all. Here's some screenshots as promised. These were such a pain to convert and I didn't even get the order right lol. But it's better than nothing I guess.

If it wasn't for that mimic spawning. I would ba e spent tens of hours just farming copper from slimes. I needed the merchant to move in because I wanted to get a bug net so id have some fishing bait. Once that happened, I spent a while just catching butterflies and grasshoppers. I ended up with about 70 bait In total. I fished up a few crates and got some ore. I also decided that I would trash crate items that were two op, such as the anchor and HardMode ores. I do want to somewhat keep true to the usual progression stages of Terraria.

The mimic gave me a cross necklace! I'm slowly building the courage to venture out a bit more, but I'm still hesitant.

I have a crimson to my immediate right and a hallow to my immediate left. My plan is to defeat a boss such as eoc or lepus and buy purification powder from the dryad. Then I can carefully box myself in some sort of tunnel whilst slowly purifying the crimson. I'm going to need to hurry up though, as both evils are spreading very quickly, they've basically reached the area below my base at this point!

I know this is your challenge but, I’d highly reconsider the no wings rules unless you have a plan for the lack of movement control.

My solution is simple: rocket boots, ropes, hoiks, and an unhealthy amount of prep time for each boss

Personally I’d add featherfalling potions to that list. Maybe not a bad idea considering you will save an accessory.
