PS3 Kicking me from friends game

Recently i came back to console after playing on PC for such a long time and i wanted to help my friend. I joined his world and then with in 5 seconds to a minute I get kicked from the world "lost connection to host". My friend says it has been happening with everyone joining his world since the most recent update. I am not sure if it is just his internet since the update or if it is actually the update itself. I have tried joining over 30 times and it happens every time, please get back to me on this issue.

Also when i do get to stay on the world for more than a minute, i have to wait forever for the world to load in. If i walk around i have to wait about 1minute for the area in front of me to load.
