PC King Slime despawning after teleport attack.

I was playing a master difficulty world yesterday (pre 1.4.0.3) and I had the slime rain event happen. I killed the nessesary ammount of slimes which took quite a while and once the slime king spawned and i was fighing it about half way though its hp bar it did its teleport attack (where it shrinks to nothing and reapears on top of you) as it had done several times in the fight already and it dissapreared waited the delay for when it should reappear (without doing so) and then despawned and being slightly undergeared in mastermode meant that even though I tried I couldn't resummon him by killing slimes in time for the rain to end.
 
The discarded crown from when he shrinks was still on screen and I was in a wooden platform arena without solid blocks in the part of the arena I was in.

The exact same thing also happened to me, its really annoying.
