Other Late Hard Mode rework

This is going to be a long one. Sit tight and bear with me here, I beg you so much to read this and give it a chance.

Golem and the Lizhard Temple is one of the final stages of the game. However, it is underwhelming, and often overlooked as a chore. The Jungle plays such an important part of Terraria, and I think its safe to say its where most players spend their time in terms of progression (Early Gear, Queen Bee, Chlorophyte grinding, Plantera, Temple, Golem) and I believe this is sort of the area where the Journey should end.

Enough waffling, heres what I wanted to say.

Empress of Light and Duke fishron should be fought between Plantera and Golem, heres why.

Golem is the key to finishing the game. It’s the gateway. Its already like this as it unlocks the final portion of the game, but oh how its underwhelming. Expanding Golem and truly making it the final stage of the game would need for this.

Now that thats out of the way, heres the biggie; Totally rework the Jungle Temple. Fix the atmosphere entirely, make it feel like one big puzzle or a never ending maze. There would be different puzzles and sections of the temple you would have to get through. Rework the beetle scales into a beetle sub biome with a beetle miniboss in the temple. Eventually, reach the main room where you fight Golem. Use what you’ve found throughout the way in the Temple, all the puzzles, to power the main core and re-activate the ancient sun in the core or the temple, powering Golem. The whole temple in general should be atleast 1.5x bigger, but use all the unnecessary space we bad before.

Onto the Golem fight, you’d be briefed by a Lizhard mechanic or something, or the builder that theres no going back after killing it. You will get the loot from Golem, and then a portal would open up.

You go through the portal, and you are on a desolate landscape / small island where you are surrounded by void. This is where you fight the revamped, crazy Lunatic Cultist where it has multiple phases where it calls down the celestial pillars one-by-one to fight you. After you kill the pillars and the cultist, the portal re-opens and you have as long as you need to craft or use what you’ve obtained so far from the pillars before you enter, and you will be briefed. The cultist will explain what will happen to you if you enter the portal. When you enter, you arrive at spawn, and everyone slowly floats up into space where you fight Moon Lord. (The new Lunatic Cultist lore; A traveler the same as you who was too afraid to return back to homeland, and was drawn to the void and went crazy, becoming one with it.)

Ok yeah thats a lot but please, Redigit, dont mark this off as a “Terraria 2 idea” because Terraria desperately needs this rework. Half of what I said is just ideas you could use, the other half is desperately needed.

We need this, we need a more exciting endgame, a better temple, Golem, and Cultist. Its all so rushed in the end, you can churn through it in 10 ish minutes, maybe even less.

TLDR; Make Temple, Golem, and Cultist more exciting and an actual portion of the game as it was meant to be and not be so rushed

Not a Terraria 2 idea.

I don't think that Terraria actually has the space to make this change. We've known about how the game engine has a limited amount of space, which we've taken up quite a bit of, and this would be a lot. An entire rework of approximately a third of the gameplay (progression-wise). Also, I think that if there was a cult chilling outside the dungeon, I'd want to hurry and get rid of them.
