Game Mechanics Legacy versions option in the menu screen to play older versions of Terraria?

(this is basically a repost of my post from the other day)

What if we had the option to play an older version of the game? Such as the first released version, and the version after that, and so on. Those of us who have only played newer versions of the game could access and experience how Terraria used to be. Or those of us who are veterans to the game could experience the game again and gain a sense of nostalgia. If given this addition, the game could be played in many more ways.

Obviously, this is just an idea of mine, and I do seek opinion on it.

I would like this as from a modding API stand point... It means older mods can be replayed, make this basically a tertiary launcher like the secondary for TModloader.
