Remove angry react.
Everybody's blowing up a post on my profile discussing it so I figured it would be better talked about here
I personally dislike it due to how aggressive it seems

Honestly I would agree with this if a dislike reaction replaced angry.

I have no idea why the mods are so admadent about not having a dislike react while keeping a reaction that is twice as hurtful. If angry isn't supposed to be used for anger, that should've been said a long time ago.

I’ve had this discussion before in a different thread and the only counterpoints I remember getting made no sense or were straw man fallacies

You mean that people are making a big deal out of a stranger using a tiny PNG?

"xxx has reacted to your post with Angry"
It's not just a PNG, the notification almost reads like an attack
Also, the fact that it's a stranger just rubs salt in the wound

I think it would be odd to remove a reaction, even if it isn't good. What would happen to posts with existing Angry reacts? Would they be replaced or removed? Either way wouldn't be too good.

There's that as well. That's why I'm suggesting to replace Angry with a dislike.

Unless the angry react has given you genuine trauma, then it's not a big deal at all. I don't know why people are getting so wound up about it.

Yes, straw man arguments like that.
I said that the reaction was often used a bit rudely against stuff the user just disagrees with, which can create more hostile discussions. This was misinterpreted as me claiming that it was a “big deal”, which just makes me seem like I’m overreacting instead of actually countering my point

I know there's been times when people use Angry as a joke, and I think a dislike would convey a different meaning.

It's not a misinterpretation.
You literally said I was acting like the angry reaction was worse than the black plague. That’s a deliberate misinterpretation, I said nothing like that, nor did I claim that it was a big deal.
I made a point, and instead of receiving counterpoints, I received people telling me it “isn’t a big deal” instead of attempts to refute my argument.

I don’t even want it removed anymore, I just wish people would use it properly.

Hyperbole
Hyperbole doesn’t make it any less of a misinterpretation of the point I made.
What's the "proper" use then?
I would guess the proper use might be when you want to show you’re angry alongside someone, not at someone’s differing opinion. For example, if someone posts “I keep getting killed by boulders, I’m so mad!”, you could react with angry to show that you’re also mad with them. Of course, we can never know for sure, there’s never been an official use for it posted as far as I’m aware. But, considering the fact they are adamant about not adding a dislike to avoid spreading negativity, I doubt they’d add a reaction meant specifically to show how genuinely pissed off you are at some guy’s suggestion.
I only use angry to show I’m angry at the person when I’m joking (or in the rare occasion where they say something genuinely hurtful but that barely ever happens)

I don't see much reason to change it. I've never given any angry reactions, and have only received one or two. Axes, boulders, and gravestones are much more common, and I have accumulated my fair share. But, if I'm being honest, I was never taken aback when I received them. I expected people to disagree with me, I expected people to have differing viewpoints, I expected people to react, because everyone does. Sure, it would be weird if I got an angry for saying I killed the Moonlord, or someone axed one of my builds, but it wouldn't hurt my feelings. And if you react with an angry to any of my multitude of opinions, I wouldn't feel any different. Yes, maybe it would be more constructive to voice your opinion and leave a post, but I hardly ever see anyone react without later leaving a post. In the end, people are going to get upset regardless, if we remove the reaction they'll just write a comment instead.

I still think that reacting with angry to mere differing opinions can fuel and has fueled angry, more hostile discussion, and I think the best way to remedy that (and possibly only way to without making anyone upset) would be to add a dislike reaction. It would be a great way to allow people to express disagreement without coming off as rude or making discussions more angry or hostile than they need to be.
I know they say we can’t have a dislike because it would “spread negativity” (although I disagree with that, disagreement is not necessarily negativity) so then why on earth do we have the angry reaction

The reaction would still exist, so it can be displayed on posts that have it, but the button for it in the reaction menu is removed so it can’t be used on new posts.

People getting mad about angry reacts when the power button is right there

Nobody is getting “mad” about angry reacts btw
The only people talking about others getting mad at the reaction are the same ones who invented the idea that others think it’s some really big deal because they can’t actually counter any of their reasoning.

I think that the Angry reaction should stay for the case something really angers you, I use as the dislike symbol the axe symbol. I think that if people get so much fixated over the Angry symbol on the internet then they should take a break from the TCF to calm down.

My stance is to either keep the angry reaction or replace it with a dislike.
