Game Mechanics Letting hardmode ores be broken by bombs later in the game

But would the ores simply become blastable or would new explosives be added? There was a different breed suggesting to re-add the Holy Hand Grenade, a Monty python reference legacy feature that was a slightly bigger boom than the explosives block.

Having checks at different progression points that let hard-mode ores become vulnerable to bombs would be great. For example, the main six after all three mechs are downed, and chlorophyte after plantera or golem. Similar to how hellstone works after the wall of flesh
Make bombs detonate equivalent to current pickaxe power (similar to paints, the highest pickaxe in the inventory), toggleable in the left side of the inventory.

I support this but this does leave only Lizhard/Dungeon Bricks as the only explosive proof block. If the bricks became explosive proof instead, I think that'd be a good compromise

I'd personally prefer it to work similar to hellstone, by using the same bombs/ rockets it keeps things simple and intuitive.

It would suck to loose the use of more aesthetic bombproof blocks, but at the very least there would still be good options at each stage of progression for practical use. I'd love to see a way of bomb proofing normal blocks without affecting their appearance, maybe something like a coating.

This could be a bit off, since it could make collecting on stage ore too easy, I figure having it set after the ores progression tier with a check is best. Same reason why I like how hellstone works with the transition into hard-mode.

??? "Make collecting on stage ore too easy" Not only does this not matter, how the hell is collecting ore hard in the first place?

I think that explosives should automatically match the best pickaxe power in your inventory, or be set to 35% (standard copper pick) if you don't have a pick in your inventory.

That would effectively make it so the dryad is needed...

...unless you find the shimmer. Because shimmering vile/vicious powder provides purification powder, apparently.

hoiks: i'm about to resurrect these runners whole careers

on a related note, there's a slight problem with making bombs use your current pickaxe power: meteorite.

previously you could bomb it out, but not since 1.4, you can now only mine it manually until hardmode, at which point it's no longer useful.

if bombs use the highest pickaxe power available, you can get a gold pickaxe and bomb out an entire crater, which is probably Not Intended (anymore) as it means meteor heads are useless.

this also means obsidian can't be blown up without a gold pickaxe which could make early hellevator hell to make. up to you if this is good.

Allowing bombs to suddenly break new blocks they couldn't before feels awkward.

I think the best way to go about this would be to add More Explosives Progression
