I don't really see the point of this... Summoner doesn't really need an early game armor due to the fact it gets Bee later on. While it is a nice little feature, it can be obtained too early compared to the other first armours with the other classes, which are all obtained after at least defeating one boss (unless you count the robes as Mage armours). I understand that it's really weak defence wise, but I feel Bee is really all we need.

I'm not objecting to a summoning weapon that isn't the Slime Staff early game, though. I swear, that thing should drop from slimes if you defeat a certain number of them or simply be crafted from gel and wood or something, it's way too weak to be that rare... especially since you have to hope to get it early game or else it'll be completely useless later on.

You might as well be hoping the brave the Jungle as soon as possible to get those hornets. So, supports there.
@Flashstriker I understand why it seems kinda unfair that summoners getting armor that early in the game. I could balance it out by adding berzerker armor (leather) and ranger armor (linen) maybe?

Now you suddenly sound like a cruel taskmaster. I guess i well go get my arcane shots and marks of the wild.
 
Living wood armour should be just another wood armour, not class specific. early armour shouldnt be classed, those distinctions dont really appear adequately until crimson/corruption boss level: pre boss, neither of the melee armour sets are available, before skeletron no necro, so only magic has access to dedicated class armour. Except, oh wait, bee! so summoners actually can theoretically obtain class armour before melee fighters, and rangers. The jungle isnt as dangerous as people often say, just dodge the stingers and use blocks as walls. But yes, summoners do desperately need more weapons, there are no sentries pre-hardmode, and only three summons, with slime staff being so rare it's usually only obtained if you specifically farm for it, often in hardmode for lucky coin farms.

TLDR i vote living wood as not-class armour, but summoners need more pre-hardmode weapons/summons

Yeah, because the Queen Bee is a walk in the park compared to the Brain or EoW, right? You need to fight a boss to get armor for Summoners just like Melee and Rangers do. And the majority of players are not capable of taking down the Queen Bee with nothing but a pair of slimes.
 
I completely support this. Except, considering how summoner is tiered now, the damage on the Treant's could be lower by 1, and the +1 minion bonus from the hat should be removed. Other than that, support!
 
a lot of people seem to not realise that just because you're a summoner you can still use swords/bows/guns/magic (unless you specifically choose to do a challenge playthrough, but then that's the point of challenges: to provide different, and often harder gameplay with the existing system. you don't have to do a challenge, and if you do, you don't want it too easy).

Excluding magic, which got made 100x easier (and possibly weaker) with early magic, robes, already both armours, and serioulsy it should take at least 5 or 10 fallen stars to make a mana crystal, they are too easy now, though i have noticed stars seem to be rarer now)</rant>, all the class armour requires a boss kill -summoner has the bee, worm or brain for warriours (and the picks unlock molten), skeletron for rangers, and throwing weapons, despite generally being limited to early gameplay (though i would LOVE some special, unique hardmode throwing weapons (chlorophyte knives, shuriken, adamantite/titanium, and the shadowflame/flying knives should definitely be throwing) only get armour after killing the king slime for ninja or beating the worm/brain to mine fossils (can gold mine them tho? hmm...)
 
I think this was actually made in a mod with a redesigned Spooky armor as the armor. basically it's a recolor with leaves added to the helmet. Chippygaming and Happydays are currently playing through with the mod on PC. I believe it's called the Tremor Mod
 
I disagree with the arguments saying that since the other classes don't have an early pre hardmode class armor summoner shouldn't, summoners are the most reliant on gear. +1 minion means twice the DPS as compared to normal.
