Lost all worlds and characters.

I've been playing on the new update since release and its been great up until today when I loaded it up all of my characters and worlds were gone.
They were also backed up onto steam but I do not know how to get the m back if thats possible.
 
I also had a similar problem, I was playing when out of nowhere my keyboard was blocked, I had to restart and when I returned my character had "restarted"

Is there any way I can get my progress back?
