This mod is currently a WIP and is not available to the public. It will be released later in the future.
Maelstrom mod is a content mod that aims to add new unique items, mechanics, weapons, bosses, and other features to the game, while also keeping a terraria feel.
It also aims to improve parts of the game, such as the summoner class and flareguns, and giving certain materials and tiles more uses.
Some sprites are a WIP and have not yet been completed. The content shown is subject to change.

A weather satellite infused with powerful magic, Raiko has the ability to summon any form of weather, but prefers lightning. Raiko was born during an incident after a large group of satellites were accidentally struck by powerful magic. All of the satellites within the blast area were transformed into what are now known as satelstrikes, and their nature has yet to be explained. Raiko was hit directly by the blast, thus gaining the most magic. It's ability to control weather is likely due to it's origins as a advanced weather satellite.

Updated the forums post with new gifs showcasing the content. I also added entries for 2 new npcs and a new weapon. As for the boss, it still needs some balancing, and some of it's projectiles and summons need sprites. But other than that, the boss is nearly finished, and a video of the bossfight should be posted soon once I'm done playtesting it. In the meantime, here is a teaser of it's summoning animation.
BossTeaser1.gif

After two weeks in the making, the bossfight has been finished. Say hello to Raiko, a weather satellite infused with powerful magic with the capability to summon and control any form of weather, but prefers lightning. The fight might receive some balancing changes at some point in the future. A good number of Raiko's attacks adjust based on the players velocity, and very little RNG is used in the fight. RNG is used for Raiko's teleportation (but not for the final teleport, which always puts Raiko above the player) and the blue jets and red sprites used in the upper atmospheric lightning attack (which determines how they branch out). Raiko's them is "Mage Maelstrom Machine", and will be posted at some point (once I figure out how to edit a video). Videos of Raiko's expert mode and normal mode bossfight are shown bellow, and the forums post has been updated. As a bonus, here are Raiko's first two sprites, which were concept sprites created last year during the summer!

Just updated the forums page.
Added info for several new weapons, a new enemy, and a WIP miniboss.
A new pre plantera boss is also currently being worked on.
2 of it's drops have already been added and have their own entries in the main post.
It might take a while to finish, but in the meantime, here is a silhouette teaser for the new boss.
BossTeaser2.png

Doesn't seem too menacing for it's size...
How could something be so... Explosive...

Updated the forums post with new information!
Info for several new weapons, a new enemy, and two new events has been added. A couple of summon weapons have also received resprites!
Raiko's post has also been updated, and entries for it's drops have been added.
Raiko's theme, "Mage Maelstrom Machine" is now available for listening on youtube.
A couple of hints for the new boss has been added, and it's drops have been moved to it's entry.
A third boss is also planned for release 0.1, but it wont be shown or teased for some time. The dark matter cannon staff, one of it's drops, has also been resprited.
