Switch Magic Lantern won't summon on equip

Found the "Magic Lantern" item for the first time by chance. Bought it, and equipped it as my pet. Nothing came up. I tried above ground and a few other things but no dice.
It will still summon when I use it in my inventory but it is just too shy when I equip it.
Nothing game breaking but thought it worth mentioning.

yes this is a known bug sadly the only way to summon it is manually, also the imps from the imp staff is not permanent ether. then next best light pet would be the pixie in hard mode

Thanks for sharing @Darkryn. You’ve found the workaround to this bug already - using the Magic Lantern from your inventory will enable it. Hopefully soon it’ll be fixed to work correctly in the light out slot.
