NPCs & Enemies Make Queen Bee Farmable

Nova Solarius

Terrarian
Currently, Queen Bee is the only vanilla boss that can't be spawned an infinite number of times. All other bosses can, in one way or another, be fought as often as desired. Queen Bee is unique in that regard. This is caused by the current lack of renewable hive blocks, which are required for the Abeemination, the spawning item of Queen Bee. This can be remedied in a number of ways. A few of these are:

- making Queen Bee drop, say, 10-15 hive blocks when slain;
- making hive blocks craftable from renewable resources (for example, using mahogany as material and honey as a crafting station);
- adding hive blocks to jungle crates;
- allow players to fish up hive blocks from honey.

How would infinite honey allow for the production of hive blocks?

Wait, I misread, :red:. I assumed you said Honey Blocks. Guess who never refights Queen Bee more than once or twiiiiice.
Uh, lemme try again: make HIve Blocks craftable with Bee Wax, maybe 5 per Wax. Doesn't entirely solve the issue, but it helps if you have spare.

Giving her the plantera where her larvas regrow after a certain amount of in-game day could easily solve this issue.

that would be really annoying IMO, because larvas are very fragile and easily broken by weapons like star fury and others, as well as later game ricotchetting weapons of mass destruction, without the player actually wanted saw the larva, or wanted to get queen bee to spawn. this happens once or twice now, but if the larva would respawn, if would happen infinite times, that you're suddenly greeted by queen bee while you were looking for life fruits. then again. and again...

Plantera's bulbs can't be destroyed so easily, so there's less chance to accidentally summon Plantera, but larvas are very fragile.

Edit: being able to fish up or craft hive blocks could be a good idea.

To be fair, by the time you're looking for life fruit, QB is more annoying than dangerous. But I do agree that it's a less than entirely ideal option.

Yes, I agree with that. She poses little threat at that point, but she can be annoying and distracting from what you were doing (like looking for life fruits, plantera's bulb, clorophyte, etc.) and if you actually decide to fight her, after you swatted her, she drops a bajillion things, which you might want to sell, because they quickly filled up your whole inventory (but worth some decent money), so you would likely go back home, distracting you from your original plan even more.

So, yeah, that's why, it would be a bad thing, if larvas would respawn, I think.

Nobody is forcing you to go near or inside the hive. She easily takes no more than 20 seconds at that point in the game and if you aren't looking to clog inventory just trash her items. If you really want the money have extra space with you with the void bag or a money trough or piggy bank to sell later. It isn't very difficult at all to seize fire when you're near the hive either.

No... not quite, but, hives can be found here and there in the jungle, and so do life fruits and plantera's bulbs, which are rare and you might just look though the whole jungle, several times to look for them - meaning you will sometimes be close to hives too. there are sometimes hives you didn't explored before, it's understandable if those cause annoyance, but if even those would do that, what you already cleared, that would be even more annoying.

There are many weapons with ricotchetting projectiles, area dmg. going though a block... or crazy minions going off-screen and trying to murder everything you can't even see... with how dangerous the jungle can be, you might will usually keep attacking, and if you rely on any weapon that could cause a problem with a larva, it would be just inconvinient not to use it when near a hive...
already explored hives would be even worse if they respawn the larva, because you likely have some openings to those hives, where ricotchetting projectiles (for example crystal storm) could accidentally enter, and break a newly spawned larva.

Edit: and inventory is another thing. you already pick up lots of stuff in the jungle. you can have lots of inventory space, void vault, etc. can be a huge help, but it's still annoying to have her just drop 5-6 different items which means several slots filled right away. yes, you could just trash them, but that could be annoying too, when you didn't wanted the whole battle that time either, to begin with.

Adding hive blocks to loot drops in normal difficulty, and the treasure bag for expert & master mode would be profitable in presence of a garden gnome & luck potions because it increases the amount of stacks you recieve (demonite and scales comparable from EOW or EOC , and hallowed bars for hardmode bosses), which would make farming QB all the more important for building projects without looting multiple worlds.
