Nowadays, a Rain can start any day with a chance between 17% and 23% (approx.), and as an effect, when a Rain starts also does the Blizzard event in the Tundra

The Sandstorm event has a 1/43200 chance of occurring per tick (1/64800 in pre-Hardmode) (from the Fandom Wiki)

While Rains are more often
"Actual chances for Rain/Blizzard fluctuate irregularly between 1 in 475,200 and roughly 1 in 345,600 per game tick"

Rain can start every tick with a small %, but Sandstorms starts when the Wind reaches 30 mph, wind can vary to be slower or faster in small intervals making it more random than Rain.
Even if a Sandstorm starts, nothing guarantee that the Wind will stand for too much time since it varies faster.
When a Rain starts, it's set up a chronometer for the rain length between 8 minutes and and hour (approx.)

Technically, if you are luck enough, the wind can reach 30 mph or faster for hours, but that is very unlikely to happen.

Is more often that a Sandstorm starts and end in matter of seconds or a few minutes, even if it's "more frequent" as an event than rain

The main problem with this is that is more easy to Melee and Range Characters get the Frost armor form the Ice Golem, than Mage and Summoner Characters to get the Forbidden armor from the Sand Elemental

The sug is make the Sandstorm occur at the same time as Rains (and Blizzards) when a Rains starts
Or
Attach Blizzards to Winds Speed as the Sandstorm
Or
Lower the minimum wind speed of Sandstorm from 30 mph to 20 mph (same as Windy day event)

Or
Attach Blizzards to Winds Speed as the Sandstorm
Or just make Sandstorms on Windy Days.

Another option is to keep the game how it is (for the poll)

And another option could be to simply increase the chances of sandstorms.

1. Yes

2. Also yes, is the 3rd option (lower mph required)

You forgot to add Windy Day as an option, if I’m understanding correctly. Sorry if I’m stupid, though.

Windy Day starts when the wind speed reaches 20 mph

That option is Lower the mph required

I rather just a solid "if wind speed > x then sandstorm happens" instead of the tick crap going on right now.

Maybe I was unclear

Windy Day and Sandstorms work with the Wind Speed

And Wind Speeds varies in small periods

When the Wind Speed reaches certain speed then Windy Day and Sandstorms are trigger

Windy Day at 20 mph and Sandstorms at 30 mph

Rain has a small % to occur every tick, this % can varies, so there's between a 17% and a 23% for a Rain to start, and is independent of Wind Velocity

If for any coincidence there's Rain and high mph, occurs other event that's called "Storm", the Storm event has practically no difference with the normal rain rather than increase a lot the Fishing Power

Next update Storm will be updated to make lightnings fall and damage enemies (I guess) or something
