NPCs & Enemies Make the eye of cthulhu boss drop the eye of cthulhu yoyo and a pre-hardmode optic staff.

Obviously this requires the eye of cthulhu yoyo to be reworked for pre-hardmode and while I have no idea what to make the stats like, it should give the enemy confusion. The minion staff is just the spazmamini but nerfed.
 
Whilst this makes sense, I do not support this.
The EoC Yo-Yo, in my eyes, should stay a Mothron drop. It's a fantastic upgrade from the various pre-plantera Yo-Yo's that ran rampant across early hardmode, both it and the Kraken, but it is better than the Kraken because it drops from a semi-rare mini boss, and with its endless runtime, it is essential for ML on any Yo-Yos only playthrough. Yo-Yo would be an annoying subclass to play if it didn't exist! As for the optic staff, I really, really couldn't be more against it. (Respectfully, of course.) The optic staff is an awesome post-twins summon, with its amazing and neat mechanic of summoning 2 summons for the price of one! If it were moved, and turned into just EoC, it would lose all of it's charm, and plus, around EoC, you've already got the Finch staff, Flinx staff, Slime staff, AND Vampire Frog Staff as options, all of which are great, with the Vampire Frog commonly being taken as far as the WoF fight!
 
it’s a little strange to move those two weapons when they’re in a fine position as is for the most part (eye of cthulhu yoyo could probably use a buff but not to an excessive enough degree to warrant effectively removing it from the game and adding a similar weapon to a previous tier) so maybe making new weapons for eoc to drop would fit better?

Mothron should just have a different themed yoyo instead. Maybe she could also drop a summoner accessory aswell.
 
Nah, the Eye of Cthulhu is far to easy to beat to deserve dropping more than Demonite/Crimtane and (in expert) the Shield of Cthulhu.
And the yo-yo is good for filling in the space between Golem and Moon Lord, so if you made it Pre-Hardmode there wouldn't be a solid option for players at that stage of the game.

I actually kind of agree. If anything Mage needs more weapons in the earlygame now. Summoner’s days of needing to find prohibitively rare single weapons are long gone.

I think they both need a more stuff. Magic needs a lot more, but more minions would still be greatly appreciated.

Summoner has 5 different minions that are balanced around the start of the game. We should really be adding to summoner later in the game if anything.

Pre-Plantera has nothing, so please add things after all three mechs.

Optic staff, sanguine staff, and blade staff are all good pre-plantera options.
Plus you get the Durendal, Hallowed Armor, and the Pygmy Necklace + Berserker Gloves.
You can even take on Duke Fishron before the mechs if you're good enough. That'll last you for ages.

I agree. Post mech summoner is really good. It’s just pre-wall of flesh and pre-mech where it struggles.
 
To add onto the discussion, a mage weapon that fires eyeballs would be a good eye of cthulhu drop. We already have unholy arrows/demon/crimtane bow for ranger.

I'm only going to accept 4 of those since Slime Staff is so prohibitively rare (and frankly, awful) that nobody would ever be getting or using it at the beginning of the game, but I do take your point and I do agree that Late-prehardmode and early hardmode summoner needs a lot more stuff than this tier. Though honestly, I'd like summoner to just have more stuff in general at every point in the game anyway.

fyi, king slime will drop slime staff in 1.4.5. Hope they buff it somewhat.
