Hello, world! This thread is about making clay more useful!

But Agel! Clay has enough uses!

Like...
-Wasting chest space
-Crafting these bricks
-Bowls n vases n stuff
-Decent looking stucco.
-Saved your from the corruption once.

But it sure could do better!

Ebonclay, Grimclay*, and Pearlclay!

-Can be placed
-Materials
-All spread their respective biomes.

But why that new prefix Agel?

Crimclay sounds wrong. Shadeclay might do, to be like the wood.

This is making clay not save your from the corruption, and wasting more precious inventory space.

SILENCE, HEATHEN!

Now these are [mostly] not red, and will not be made into red bricks, instead we have these Violet, Burgundy, and Fushica variants.

-Can be placed
-Materials
-Do not spread.
They can be made into walls, and...
Bricks!

[sprite creds to sergo]
-20 Throwing Damage
-Low Knockback
-20% Armour Penetration
-Has a chance to confuse.
-1 second "Cooldown" before you can throw another brick.
-Range of only 5 blocks.
Crafted with 1 of any clay brick at a workbench. 4 per brick. The different colours stack together like gel or sharkfins.
They can also be worn. Appears as red no matter what.

Some more palette swaps. They all do the exact same thing and are crafted with the vanilla recipes but using infected clay.

-Can be placed
-Just sits there, judging you.
Crafted with 5 of any clay at a furnace.

But wait, there's more!

Pottery Wheel

-Can be placed on any 2x2 flat furniture or on the ground
-Crafted with 4 of any wood and 2 stone at a workbench.
-Used for crafting pottery.

Vases

Can now be crafted with 6 of their respective material at a pottery wheel.

And also, the part you've all been waiting for...
CRAFTABLE POTS!

Pot
-Crafted with 4 Clay at the pottery wheel.
-Can be placed.
-When placed, takes the shape of a random overworld/underground pot like seashells and the like would. This applies to all pots.

Jungle Pot
-Crafted with 4 clay and 1 jungle spore at the pottery wheel.

Ice Pot
-Crafted with 4 clay and 1 ice at the pottery wheel.

Corrupt Pot
-Crafted with 4 ebonclay and 1 rotten chunk at the pottery wheel.

Crimson Pot
-Crafted with 4 grimclay and 1 vertebra at the pottery wheel.

Pyramid Pot
-Crafted with 4 Sandstone at the pottery wheel.

Dungeon Pot
-Crafted with 4 bones at the pottery wheel.

Marble Pot
-Crafted with 4 marble at the pottery wheel.

Hell Pot
-Crafted with 4 obsidian at

why is it so hard to find pot sprites

just make the stuff extractinatable.

Agel, this is making clay more useful than it ever deserved to be.

It isn't as useful as fishing. Also, is only a suggestion.

There's no particular reason clay shouldn't be corruptible, arguably it even makes sense seeing as stone and sand both are, but it just doesn't seem like it adds much. Clay furniture would be fine I guess. But I already consider clay non-useless, flower pots are very nice, even though the Driad's flower boxes make them a little obsolete, and plain old bricks are a nice building material in my opinion.

Not too sure about the corrupted/hallowed variants. Just sorta seems like something that'd take up more space.

They can be used to craft... well... items with slight color variations. Not too important considering the existence of paint.

The pottery wheel is an interesting idea.

Tried to remake bars sprite into a brick, so, still smaller than a bar, and looks better to my eye.

I feel like Ebonclay, Grimclay, and Pearlclay aren't really needed, but I do like the idea of the pottery wheel. Also I think Pearlclay should be light blue, since pink is a little too close to the faded red color of normal clay.

I also think we don't need different types of clay; but craftable pots would be great! Throwing bricks at enemies might also be fun early in the game.

Imagine if there was a little designing map that allowed you to make whatever thing you want in clay. It wont do anything so it can stop players from making custom swords that shoot blades and are usable.

Vases and pots are really neat. However, I Don't really agree with the rest. Some blocks can be useless but clay is already wuite useful for building… so idk.

i don't think bricks as throwable weapon would be a great addition. it is somehow good early but could get useless lately.

Ah yes, the cure to wasting chest space is to add 3 more variants of what you call useless

Also as someone stated before, paint exists. I like the idea of crafting vases and stuff, no reason we shouldn't be able to :3
