Biomes & Nature Mana Fruit

MrD108

Official Terrarian
As the Ancient Spirits of Light and Darkness spread across the world, their energies reawakened magical seeds long dormant in the deep ice. Blueish Mana Fruits now start to grow in the Ice Biome, each increasing the player's maximum Mana slightly.

Mana fruits will be able to add 5 or 10 mana points (then the maximum mana would be 250 or 300 points).

After thrown into the Shimmer, the Mana Fruit would become a Space Fruit. I have two ideas for its effect:
1. It would give the player a small, permanent aura of light (stacks with glowing accessories).
2. It would reduce the player's respawn time by 5 seconds.

Yes. Snow biome in Hardmode needs some love.

The idea is good, but isn't the mushroom biome a better place for this. It is the opposite of the jungle (where the Life Fruits grow). Also i want to add that snow biome is treated in the same way as the desert biome (even better because the snow biome has a boss and mimic).

i need this i need this i need this i need this i need this i need this i need this i need this i need this i need this i need this i need this i need this i need this i need this i need this i need this i can’t afford anymore mana potions

Cool, but seems overpowered.

On the one hand I kinda like this concept, but on the other max mana is already enough (especially if you have a mana flower and/or magic set of armour).

Though having it go up by 5 or 10 per item would be cool (bringing the max to 250 or 300).

I suppose increasing the mana cost of hardmode weapons would make it more valuable though (most of them use barely any) - maybe even tweaking mana cost reduction?

I also think the Mushroom Biome would fit better. Feels more "magical" than ice does.

The Mushroom Biome is rarer and smaller. The Snow and Ice biomes are more suited to the Jungle, they are located on the opposite side of the world, they are a large biome with a surface, an extensive underground and their own cabins and their own loot.
However, in hardmode there is not much reason to enter the ice biome, where the jungle biome gains Fruits of Life, so the ice biome can grow Mana Fruits with a cold but sweet taste (not mint).

Fruits of Mana would probably, like Fruits of Life, increase the maximum mana by 5 points, although considering the twice smaller mana capacity, it could increase mana by up to 10 points.

Now I realize that the Mana Fruit would have to have its Shimmer upgrade.
I was thinking about the effect and it could either provide players with a pernament small aura of light (stacks with other light accessories, useful in The Constant) or reduce the player's respawn time by 5 seconds.

Maybe not mana fruit specifically, it doesn't really match the ice biome and is too similar to life fruit, but a gem or something could be more fitting

It's supposed to be similar to Life Fruit, that's the point.

And I don't know what you don't like, the concept of long-frozen seeds breaking through the ice under the influence of the power that was released when entering Hardmode is really cool.

I think it’s a cool idea. Probably mushroom would be better than ice though. As for the Space Fruit, I would say why make it reduce potion sickness cooldown for mana potions?

I like the idea, fruit just seems like it's copying life fruit and not its own thing

I don't see why not honestly. Support.

Well, it's supposed to be the equivalent of the Life Fruit, but for mana.

this sounds super cool and an ore for it would be cool too (thankfully calamity fixes this problem with the ice biome being useless in hardmodeby adding cryogen and the ore i forgor what its called)

first effect is kinda useless, while it will be helpful... terraria has a hard mana cap of 400 as to not make it too broken
that cap can be reached *without* mana stars even, so there's no need for this unless you reaaaaaally just can't live without ~50 mana come late game when you get it

i like those shimmered effects tho!
