Every single boss in the game has a summon item. Every single event has a summon item (eclipses, blood/frost/pumpkin moons), and every invasion has a summoning item (goblins, pirates, frost legion) ... EXCEPT ONE.
That is the Martian Madness invasion, which requires you to go find a probe? I suggest adding a new item either:
"Hyjacked Probe": a releasable probe identical to the actual probe enemy that you can then let scan you to trigger a Martian invasion
Or "Beacon": a consumable item that attracts the Martians directly
These could both be sold by a new "Martian" NPC that moves in once you have defeated the Martians at least once, similar to the pirate for the pirate invasion. He would attack with a laser gun, and be the first NPC to prefer the space biome. Edit: and would also sell a Space Pylon and the space gun, or perhaps an upgraded version of it?
Perhaps he could also sell meteorite too? By this point in the game it would be useless for anything other than building, but it would be nice if it was renewable...
Recombobulation: In addition to the items mentioned in the other post (a space suit for travelling to deep space, gravity generator blocks ect), he should have some sort of new mechanic too. And I found it: Make any weapon the best weapon with a special modifier. Basically, the base damage of one weapon could be applied to another of the same class to make fun but early game weapons viable late game. Keep in mind this is post Martian/post golem, which I think is a good point in progression.
Edit: It could even be post moonlord where balance is less of a concern. Though the Martian npc would still show up after defeating the Martians, he wouldn't offer this new ability until post Moonlord.
