Game Mechanics Mashy Spike Plates!

I think it would be useful (and cool) to be able to make spike plate traps that could harm mobs and players.
It could be useful for defenses, mob grinders, puzzle making and traps. And if a spike plate hits another spike plate, it would do double the damage.
To make it, you would need spikes, wires, and blocks which i do not know what to put here. It would extend 5 blocks and its hight would be 5 blocks tall.
I call it "Mr Mashy".

When I saw this suggestion, I thought it would be a small block similar to a pressure plate that created a small one block spike when stepped on.
