Frankly, I think the problem with master mode isn't to do with a lack of unique or special items. I mean, for the worthy has unique AI and difficulty, like less downtime between the empress' attacks! or the eye of cthulhu spinning and spawning its minions!
I really wish that for the worthy AI changes would just be incorporated into what master mode is now, because right now
Listen, I think expert mode is probably the best thing that ever happened to terraria. it feels like a PERFECT difficulty for the game... it really does feel like a fair challenge, it feels PROPER for what terraria is
so i'd expect the next mode to be the equivalent of most games "hard" difficulties... but no, master mode is instead my ONLY major criticism of terraria. Why is it? Because it doesn't actually make the game harder or even change up your strategies really, it just makes the game more annoying which is why i still prefer to play expert mode. Master mode makes bosses have more health which... means surviving their attacks longer, which is fine. its not deep, but its fine. what i find insanely annoying about it, especially earlier on, is that any enemy just does a truckload of damage! i end up dying to random enemies and haha graveyard biome! it feels quite unfair, the Random Enemy Scaling being more cruel than anything else
I say this as someone with 2k hours in the game. I love expert mode, I think its the perfect difficulty for a game. it isnt absurdly hard, nor is it pitifully easy. it strikes a balance of feeling satisfying because it holds challenge, but also just making you feel powerful, instead of making you feel like someone who is just... pushing against a losing battle constantly.
I'd love if I could just play expert mode but the bosses have some FTW changes... though in that case, I need to have a world that drops bombs from trees.
hopefully the new seed combination stuff lets me uh, maybe just pick the boss changes? and then i can play expert mode with it?
