Game Mechanics Medium-core Players should have their items stored rather than dropped

New to the website by the way... So I might have a hard time understanding how stuff works, I'm like a grandpa to stuff like this.

I am pretty sure this might have been suggested! However, I believe that medium-core players should not drop their items upon death but rather have them stored at their death location.

The reason why I suggest this is because of 2 reasons:

Number 1 - Dying is frustrating already and sometimes after a death you just want to sit back and come back later, but if you leave the world the items will despawn... this forces you to keep the world open and take your break or be frustrated in retrieving your items.
Ideally, you want to be level-headed and have fun while playing but death can get to people sometimes, and even the chill of people.

Number 2 - Crashes, I don't know about you but Murphy's Law is as it is.
Sometimes, things will crash and sometimes the power may cut. You can't fix that... so if you die and you're going to get your gear and something out of your control happens. Your items are gone and that isn't fun...

The best solution would be to make items not drop but be stored perhaps on the gravestone I'm not saying make gravestones become storage on their own but more like once it is broken items will pop out but I hope this isn't difficult because Medium Core is amazing despite all of its hate.

Sorbet made a lovely video that illustrates this and one of the comments made me create this account just for this. To have medium-core be less frustrating but still have its penalties

Thank you for shedding light on the struggles of mediumcore. This is indeed an important issue, and I suggested something similar not long ago. Although, when I looked through older suggestions, I noticed that this issue had been brought up in the comments before.

I completely agree that Mediumcore offers a fantastic middle-ground option for our characters, and will continue to advocate for mediumcore QoL additions like this, and perhaps a way to store inventory sorting aswell.

I agree. I just had all my items despawn on my 50+ hour run with all my gear. (This is also my first run.) I didn't even know items can despawn. And no, I did not exit to the menu. It's very frustrating as I had all the best accessories available prehardmode, which includes hours of fishing, searching for chests, learning the game and recipes, farming mobs... I honestly might give up mediumcore altogether even though I wanted really wanted to make it work.

Do you want to know how badly this king of feature is universally wanted? Three distinct Minecraft moss I have observed implementing this feature!!! Terraria would benefit from it to.
