No. I agree this is a problem that needs to be addressed but this implementation is terrible.
I agree that mimics should be placed like Planteras bulb, in places that make sense. I don’t see the need to have different loot in a lihzard mimic though, it can just be the same as the underwater and regular one.
Players should be rewarded for knowledge about the game. Making chests flat out intangible until you are close enough to open them is pretty stupid, and doesn’t reward caution in part of the players. If someone is willing to take due diligence and hit the chest, they should be able to be rewarded. Remember, mimics deal oppressive amounts of damage. On expert mode they deal upwards of 150 damage, which is oneshot territory. Having no counterplay to that besides one (1) potion is silly. Hell even if you have a dangersense you have to get close so it loses invincibility, lmao.
All potions should function as is, and reward players for taking the time to gather what’s needed for them. As is, potions are inconvenient/tedious to make. There’s no need to make them less worth it than they already are. Patient players who invest in potions shouldnt be punished for being more diligent by le epic invincible oneshot chest.
Half the problem with mimics is that two out of the three variants don’t have a regular chest version
