NPCs & Enemies Mimic Mania! More Mimics

EparoBro

Terrarian
Wahey! It's been quite a while since I last posted. Did you miss me again? No? Ok.

So exactly what the title says, more mimics! I really like the mimic concept and their cool and powerful *cough Stormbow and Dart Pistol* loot they drop. But wouldn't more mimics be a nice addition to the game?

Now to address one thing. Shadow mimics. They are really cool, but I was always puzzled to why they dropped only regular mimic loot. Since the underworld becomes a pretty barren place in hardmode, why not spice it up with revamped Shadow mimics?

So the main stats will stay the same, except the loot is obviously different.
Drops:

Volcanic Hook
A grappling hook identical to the work and tendon hooks. The Hook is made of hot volcanic rock.

Flametrail Drake Staff
36 Summon Damage
Weak Knockback
Slow Speed
Uses 11 Mana
Summons Fire Drake's to fight for you
-This staff is almost identical to the imp staff, except the Drakes attack a lot faster, and occasionally drop fire on the ground while flying.

Burning Blade
56 Melee Damage
Average Knockback
Average Speed
9% critical hit chance
-This sword is like the fiery greatsword except it is a lot lighter. It also shoots lingering flames that can sprout up and hit enemies. Pretty nifty, huh?

Speed Demon
55 Melee Damage
Very Fast Speed
Weak Knockback
8% critical hit chance
Stretch: 15 tiles
- This yo-yo is like most others except it inflicts confusion on enemies. It also moves really fast, and has no trouble keeping up with your cursor.

Tommy's Tantrum
29 Ranged Damage
Very Fast Speed
Weak Knockback
10% chance not to use ammo
6% critical hit chance
- This Tommy gun is a real nice one to have around. It has a good rate of fire, but also every bullet hits with fire. It also keeps the effects of other used bullets, so that's really handy.

Volnado Rod
39 Magic Damage
Average Speed
Very Weak Knockback
Uses 12 Mana
8% critical hit chance
"Harness fire and wind in one weapon!"
- This thing shoots a "Volnado". It can travel through targets infinitely until fading after 4 seconds. It also burns things. Really sick to have in a Destroyer fight.

Fire Dragon Scale
Accessory
All Magic attacks inflict on fire!
Material
- This thing is quite nice for the extra dps and also really nice when you get the stuff to upgrade it.

Ok so now you have seen the reworked Shadow mimic. Now prepare for actually new mimics.

SPIDER MIMIC!
As the name implies, it can only be found in a spider den. It will appear as a web-covered chest, until activation. Try not to get eaten by a recluse while taking it down!
Spider Saddle
Lets you ride a jumping spider. As the name implies, it can jump really high (22 Tiles to be exact!). It also runs on eight legs at 46 mph.

Arachno Flail
48 Melee Damage
Fast Speed
Average Knockback
8% critical hit chance
Hits can summon tiny spiders
- This is a nice flail to have around when dealing with a lot of baddies. Each hit has a 40% chance to spawn 1-3 little spiders. The spiders and sword inflict venom. Yikes!

Black Widow
81 Ranged Damage
Snail Speed
Strong Knockback
21% critical hit chance
Right-Click to zoom
- This sniper rifle is really good to pick off distant targets with. The bullets move really fast, and they all inflict poison. (not venom)

Magic Egg Staff
32 Magic Damage
Slow Speed
Weak Knockback
Uses 14 Mana
Shoots a magic spider egg that hatches
- This magic wand shoots a magic spider egg that hatches into little magic spiders. Being magic, these spiders can drain a very small amount of Mana from targets.

Bottle of Recluse Venom
Accessory
Drops a splat of venom all over the floor when hit. This venom is really sticky and hurts anything walking over it.
Material

Next mimic, SKYWARE MIMICS!
This mimic only lives high in the sky. How they get up there is beyond me, but they sure drop some pretty nice sky-themed loot.

Wyvern Token
Summons a baby wyvern to fly across the skies.

Harpy Staff
34 Summon Damage
Slow Speed
Weak Knockback
Uses 11 Mana
- This summons harpies that have very similar behavior to wild ones, except they are scaled down a lot. They still pack a pretty good wallop.

Protostar Cleaver
41 Melee Damage
Average Speed
Weak Knockback
8% critical hit chance
Calls three Stars when swung
- This sword is much like the Starfury, but instead of raining one star, it rains three. The damage is also beefed up a considerable amount.

Horizon Bow
28 Ranged Damage
Very Fast Speed
Weak Knockback
7% critical hit chance
Rapidly fires Airrows.
- Ha! See what I just did? Anyway, this bow may not have a great damage, but it makes up in speed and Airrows. Airrows can penetrate up to 7 Hits at once. They also travel in a straight line.

Space Needle
33 Magic Damage
Slow Speed
Very Weak Knockback
Uses 9 Mana
8% critical hit chance.
- This thing operates exactly like the Vilethorn and Nettle Burst. It goes a lot higher, but doesn't damage as long.

Silver Harpy Feather
Equipable
This feather is too small for wings. It is from a rare mutation in Harpy Feather color. The magic glint of this feather gives you a better chance to find little hearts or Mana Stars.
Material

And when you thought it was over, the MUSHROOM MIMIC adds more to the thread!

Fungi Hook
A hook also similar to the work and tendon hooks, it also emits a blue glow.

Toadstool String
56 Melee Damage
Fast Speed
Weak Knockback
7% critical hit chance
Stretch: 17 Tiles
Flings off glowing mushrooms when used
- Not only does this yo-yo glow in dark areas, it also flings off glowing mushrooms in a similar way to the Hammush. Pretty cool, right?

Mushot
34 Ranged Damage
Slow Speed
Strong Knockback
9% critical hit chance
Musket balls turn into mushrooms
- A shotgun weapon that turns musket balls into glowing mushrooms. It's pretty nice in caves because the mushrooms glow and all, so yeah.

Fungus Prism
25 Magic Damage
Insanely Fast Speed
No Knockback
Uses 6 Mana
5% critical hit chance
Shoots a glowing blue laser.
- This thing is really similar to the Last Prism in that it shoots a steady beam. The beam here is a bit smaller and being blue. Not even having a cool name can change the color!

DESERT MIMIC
This mimic is quite a rare specimen. It rarely spawns in deserts, but you're much more likely to encounter one in a sandstorm. They drop some nice desert loot.

This mimic is a sandy color, and is one of the larger species of mimics. It's tough shell made of solid fossil gives it good protection.

Now for the spoils... You obviously get the same amount of coins and potions as killing a large mimic.

Sand Shark Staff
38 Summon Damage
Slow Speed
Average Knockback
Uses 11 Mana
Summons sand sharks to fight for you
- The Sand sharks are pretty similar to the Spazmatism summons, except they bite faster and are a lot larger. The piercing ability makes them great against groups of baddies.

Cat-astrophe
26 Ranged Damage
Fast Speed
Average Knockback
8% critical hit chance
Uses darts as ammo
- This Kitty is leaving the bag to help destroy enemies with a barrage of darts. If your world is crimson, pair it up with Ichor darts to mow down... Anything really...

Wand of Plagues
41 Magic Damage
Slow Speed
Weak Knockback
23% critical hit chance
Uses 14 Mana
Inflicts plagues on your foes
- This thing may not seem very powerful at first glance with bad speed and Knockback and high Mana cost, but it brings down many debuffs, along with a great critical hit chance. The debuffs are:
Poison
Confusion
Slowness
Broken Armor (Halves monster defense)

Pharaoh's Throw
57 Melee Damage
Fast Speed
Weak Knockback
8% critical hit chance
Stretch: 17 Tiles
Makes enemies drop more good
- This expensive yo-yo that King Tut would envy has a good damage output, and it makes enemies drop a bit more money. Great if you are killing mimics like this one for other loot.

Pyramid Charm
Accessory
A charm of a sturdy pyramid that increases damage and Knockback of sentry summons by 12%
Material

DUNGEON MIMIC
A little loot from the dungeon before the harder enemies move in. Looks like a really big locked gold chest

Chaos Energy Staff
56 Magic Damage
Slow Speed
Strong Knockback
9% critical hit chance

Dark Caster Cane
37 Summon Damage
Slow Speed
Weak Knockback
Uses 11 Mana
Summons dark casters to fight for you
- The dark casters from this Cane shoot water bolts at enemies. They penetrate and also bounce off walls.

METEOR MIMIC
This species of mimic is large and happens to be very rare. Finding one is a sight to behold, if you can escape alive. They only show at meteor crash sites.

Stardust Sword
61 Melee Damage
Average Speed
Average Knockback

Space Turret Staff
36 Summon Damage
Extremely Slow Speed

- This sentry summon is a nice one to have because it shoots penetrating lasers. It also is nice because you can stick it on walls if there's a better angle there.

Astro Emblem
Accessory
Laser Based weapons have 18% increased damage and cost 0 Mana (if they do.)

Well that was it! I thought about changing the unspawnable jungle mimics, but there is already too much jungle loot

Kind of an out there idea but maybe the mimics all have something different to their moveset?
Like for instance, Dungeon Mimic could have a move where it goes "beserk" and starts doing erratic short hops everywhere causing the various contents to come flying out as projectiles.
Might have to make a thread later about the current mimics and how they could have some unique moves.

why is there a stardust sword in meteor mimic in the first place? im guessing there should be more items that have meteor in it.
