This story's time line is a bit... messed up in the beginning. The beginning is pretty much a re-cap, but through Soros' eyes. He sees the events happen, and he reacts to them, gaining magical capabilities based off of what happened. Eventually, it reaches the current point in time, in which Soros has obtained enough magic to absorb other's magic. Now, shall we get started (@Jetstream Infinity)?
Earth Pony
---Defeat of Nightmare Moon---
Soros watched from behind a pillar, ready to feed off of the massive magical shift in the space-time continuum. As the rainbow of... whatever it was consumed her, he fed off of its power. This wasn't enough power to restore him to his former state, but it was enough to start getting him on the road. Soon enough, he'd be able to take all of the magic, from every type of pony. Earth, Pegasus, Unicorn, and maybe even Alicorn. He was different than Tirek, however... he didn't just absorb their magic, he was able to become that type of pony. He was an Earth pony... without Earth magic. Soon enough, however, he would be able to obtain absolutely everything he wanted. The destruction of all.

Soros watched from behind his throne, ready to absorb more magic. He found it quite funny, that someone you could say he was... related to, was being "destroyed", and he was just watching it all, from the peanut gallery. As he watched the rainbow shoot down on Discord, he absorbed what leftover magic there was. When it was done, he could start to feel his power regaining, but it wasn't enough to start his conquest, the conquest to destroy the world, but even more specifially, Equestria, and even more specifially... Celestia. She'd been his target the entire time. He was ready to whatever it took to bring her down... even if it took mentioning the past.

Soros had watched behind the pillar, again, absorbing the magic of "love". This time, he'd set up a GPS on Chrysalis as she was being defeated, as he would need her magic in order to accomplish what his goals were. For now, he'd have to settle for small meals, such as the magic of friendship, and love. If such a thing even existed. For now, he'd been grateful for the magic he could get. Soon enough, however, the magical shift would be strong enough...

Soros had been undercover in the Crystal Empire, slowly feeding off of the Crystal Heart's magic. It was certainly stronger than the earlier magic he had obtained, but it still wasn't enough. He needed some real food, not just fast food. When the Crystal Heart had defeated Sombra, the magical shift was massive. At the moment that its energy radiated, and affected everyone else, he could literally feel the magical shift. This was one of his relations to Discord, you could say. Though the shift was huge, it wasn't enough to grant him the ability to steal Earth Magic just yet...

Soros had felt a MASSIVE shift in the energy. He fed off of its energy, and fled to the source, immediately. Watching from behind the library, he both laughed and hated the idea that Celestia had made Twilight a princess. She'd invited another into her inner circle, but do they really know about Celestia? What had she been hiding from the recent generation of Alicorns? He didn't know, but he didn't like it. This sudden shift in the magical balance had been enough for him to start absorbing Earth pony magic, but he wasn't quite ready for anything yet. He'd wait in the shadows a bit longer. Just long enough. He'd need to wait for Tirek's return. Then, he would have all the magic he needs to get started.

Soros had been surprised at the massive amount of change that was present. He'd fed off of it, yes, but he could feel that these ponies would suddenly be a challenge. He'd have to wait a while before anything big was to happen. He was still waiting for Tirek to make his return, and maybe even Gyro. Soon enough, he would have his power. He'd just have to wait a bit more. Soon enough. Soros was beginning to be impatient, however. 21 years of life was not very long, and he hadn't been around long enough to learn what patience even was.

This magical shift was enough. He'd been ready to start absorbing Earth Magic, to eventually be able to use it. This was it, this was his magical imbalance. The very thing that would allow him to achieve his goals. He'd left the area, but he'd still felt the Magical Imbalance. Soon enough, he would have what he wants... but first, he would need to keep an eye on Spike. He was a very special being, and he'd need that magic soon enough. Or maybe even the physical form of a baby dragon. Spike was very special, and he didn't even know it. This was it.

Celestia: My faithful- fellow princess, we have a new problem at hand.
Twilight: Yes, Princess Celestia?
Celestia: All of the Earth Ponies' magic has seemed to... disappear, like someone has absorbed it.
Twilight: Is Tirek back? Is Discord working with him?
Fluttershy: Oh no... not again... *cries*
Applejack reassured her.
Celestia: No... this is... a new villain.
They were all surprised.
Mailman: Letter for Princess Celestia!
Celestia opened it, and read it aloud to the rest of the ponies.
Oh Celestia, the games have begun
